Anyone want to take a stab at what will claim top spot this year? Without looking too closely, it seems much less obvious this year ...

I have no clue.

I have absolutely no idea. If anything, it will probably be an album that's not in my Top-20.

I had a look through the lists the other day and was surprised to see how many votes Smog picked up. I don't think he'll win but he might be a Top Twenty.

I think Spoon will win.

Sufjan?

The lists above probably represent the top 15 in some way, but no idea who will be the winner.

Spoon, Sufjan, and Bird are my best guesses at #1. No clear-cut faves this year. Thought Wolf Parade might be our Wrens/Arcade Fire this year, but it didn't come to pass.

whenever the following happens...

- shmoo tabulates results
- shmoo sends a top 20 list (in alpha order) to chase
- chase assigns write-ups duties to willing writers
- writers turn in write-ups
- chase organizes and delivers write-ups (and maybe album pics) to shmoo

shmoo then posts

I think Wolf Parade got caught in a bit o' Arcade Fire backlash. I would also throw my hat in for Spoon, Sufjan or Bird. Of the lists that have been posted, those are some constants.

There was no runaway this year, like Arcade Fire last year and Wilco in 2002, but it's not as close as 2003 when the Shins beat the Wrens by 4 points.

If you judge it from the number of lists it appeared... but it seems like it was usually in the third or fourth quartile... MMJ seemed to be placed higher on the lists it appeared on.

I guess MMJ.

I haven't really paid attention, but I'll guess Sufjan.

Yeah, this looks likely. Seems the top 5 will include MMJ, Sufjan, New Pornos, and Spoon.

All are pretty good, but nothing I could ever get too excited over.

I've been kinda surprised how many list had absolutely nothing in common with mine, yet still contained a lot of albums that I really liked. There was a lot of good stuff put out last year.
