My name was randomly picked from the nearest book to hand (Konstantin Lepyokhin) when I signed up to the CMJ message board.

I wish I'd put a bit more effort into it but then I didn't expect to hang around for 5 years. If desperate to invent a better back story I can claim it was my stab at the Kafkaesque (Josef K / Konstantin L).

I get asked this question so much, I wrote a web page about it. Hey look, there's even a picture in which I'm really hard to make out...with...

No, seriously, the Dusty part is so old, that it's more of a self-perpetuating societal organism than anything else, so the derivation has all but been lost in the entropy.

That was my imitation of the variant "mask" cover of Pink Floyd's Relics album.

I usually keep the red carpet rolled up and put away.

So, one day Bloor gets this idea to start calling people "Loog" like Rick "Loog" Derris and Busty "Loog" Rhodes. I think this is sometime after our Brandy Alexander drinking days, but on around the time that we were heavily into listening to The Stones, drinking everything in sight, and staying up too late to do heinous things.

Sometime before this Busty and Bloor called everything "Garbage," cos some sports talk guy they love did it. Me and Derris shortened it to "Gar." One day I called the mailman "gar," and it pretty much became a catch all for everyone and everything.

There is a Senator named Richard Lugar (R-IN) I realized that Lugar = Loog + Gar, so now, I just change the middle name to suit my mood, but remain obner elected representative to the United States Senate.

My name was given to me by an unstable 40 year old nurse who used to work with a former roommate.

I use this name on a local board. Once, some drunken evening, I tried to go to straight to bed after having been at the beach all day, It was itchy and I was thrashing, and my wife said," What the hell, stop thrashing, ass!" And I said, "I can't --- I'm all...beachy!"

Whn I registered at CMJ, I was dropping in at lunchtime to check things out, so I became Beachy Lunchtime Musings, after when/what I was doing there.
I short'nd it b/c why not.

ps, I promise to soon update my holiday avatar.

I chose "hot. wax." (and any variations thereof) because Baron Von Nipplestein had already been taken.

schadenfreude is a german word meaning deriving enjoyment out of other's misery. There's not an english equivalent word to express the same concept.

Although I consider myself a pretty swell guy, I do get enjoyment out of bad things happening to people who annoy me.

1) I love Pavement and the song.
2) It's a metaphor for the panic attacks that dominated my life for a time.

I love Rudolph's Shiny New Year... my favorite character is/was Sir 1023, a knight who yells everything. As a young'n, I remembered him yelling "Odds Bodkins!" at one point... thought it sounded cool. Years later I find out that it is a term meaning "God's body".

I've been almost as incorrigible as The Obner as regards the changing of Obner name, but I returned to my CMJ handle, as everyone here calls me Monty, regardless.

As to it's origin: I patterned it on the character (fictional, I should add) of Billy the Beaver, a pro-environment rodent (?) that was conceived as part of a Testing the Waters project at my high-school. Alas, the year prior to being in that biology project. But, I was friends with one of the four - and knew the three others - in the group that proposed PSA featuring Billy the Beaver as one means to reducing pollution in the local waterways (namely, the Menomonee River, where Central High (among others) did TTW). And, I always found the whole thing funny.

when I was in highschool my little brother found a mongoose trapped in a bucket of water, when he went to poke at it it ran up the stick and sunk its jagged little mongoose teeth into his finger.
I used same stick to beat mongoose until it let go. Then I laughed as my brother ran around the yard screaming at his nicely pierced finger.
Do they have mongooses in Milwaukee?

I thought I'd share.

Maybe they have them at the County Zoo, but I thought that mongoose habitat was pretty much just the subcontinent, and that they are the only predator with which the cobra must contend.

But to confirm, I think we need one of THEM to answer. Prince of Darkness?

I chose mine for my affinity for my furry co-habitant. Flying portion because the thought of a rabbit flying through the air made me giggle.

Stereotypist. You of all people should know that not all Mexicans are drug-dealers... And, anyway, it's more likely a Chicano/a in California is brewing and dealing METH. Cocaine is for the Latins (Caribbeans) and South Americans.
