Nobody has even mentioned "Brothers In Arms" says Jenny and the Ess Dog.

This is an interesting little look at some albums from 1985.

I did.

I was speaking to the panel, not the curator.

The only ommission that I can come up with that has not been noted is Professor Longhair - Rock'n'Roll Gumbo

I guess Psychodcandy, though I only heard the bugger last year.

Cult is awesome.
Radio is awesome.

But I mostly greet this year with a big yawn.

Aw, shit, I can't believe I forgot New Order...hmmm...that one definitely ousts Stella, but not sure about Misplaced Childhood -- they're really too different to compare.

I thought 'Up On The Sun' was a disappointing follow up to II. 'Psychocandy' was probably the most striking sound but maybe not worthy of #1 overall--but certainly #1 gimmick. Husker Du, REplacements, Minutemen, CVB are all good but they have worthy competition from other years and it's too hard to pick one. So for the hell of it I'm gonna go with Scritti Politti * Cupid & Psyche 85 (WB). It's actually kind of perfect in its way and whips the 80s retro groups of today.
