So, it this the album that's going to finally make it ok for most people to like Liars again? I can't really remember how many people liked/disliked They Were Wrong.... on this board ; my only real criticism, besides the fact that the latter half of the album was sort of dull, was that it was too skeletal compared to the flesh and blood WTF?!-ness of their live show.

Anways, Pfork just dropped a solid 9 on this bitch, and other reviews have been really good as well. Who's heard it, and is it any good?

(damn I hate being broke :( )

I loved They Were Wrong... and am looking forward to this one regardless of the PFM score. And yes, their live show is friggin' kewl.

If you didn't like They Were Wrong..., then you will probably hate Drum's Not Dead, since I see it as being the next logical step away from their original "dance punk" sound. It has grown on me a lot since my initial "WTF?" listen. It does have a lot of drums, but it is also very droney - apparently from the krautrock influence of living in Berlin. It's probably my favorite from this year thus far.

Yeah...I just thought it was kinda funny for them to pull that thing with They Threw Is In A Trench and They Were Wrong where if they give a debut or breakout album a better-than-average score, they seem to automatically raspberry the follow up. (See: White Stripes, Hot Hot Heat, Arcade Fire, every other half-decent band out there)

So yeah, sometimes they don't hold much weight with me.

Of the four tracks I've heard so far, I'd wager most people (and fans alike) won't dig on this. PFM should create more than expected sales, but the music will most likely end up in Used Bins, IMO. I don't dislike what I've heard, but it hasn't throttled me into hyperdrive like the previous two LP releases. The pace seems more sluggish and the lull of the drums almost hynotizing. i can only equate it to stretching out the track They Took 14..., dropping the bpm to 50 and layering over synths and distorted vox. I look forward to hearing the rest of the album, and hopefully, growing to love it.

The new album is boring. I hated their 2nd album at first but it grew on me but this just sucks.

It's already out in the UK and available through Mute Bank; U.S. release will be on March 20th.

Awesome; I can't wait to hear it. Have you heard the new single and the B-sides (which tend to recall some of their earlier stuff)?

YES!!!1111oneone OMG 4REALZ O_O

Well, I mean, they are jumping back on the Liars bandwagon. I figured they were going to pull some Rolling Stone mess for this one, based on their last review....

I never liked their first album. I don't think I ever heard the last one, but descriptions of this make it sound interesting.

I anyone has it *available*, as splates said, I'd like to check it out.
