Just heard a rumor that dude only scored a 6 on the Wonderlic (sp?) test which I guess makes him functionally illiterate or something....

Anybody ever taken one of these thing for a job?

edit: I actually found at least 3 dif. spellings so I guess the terrorists have won.

Probably not as stimulating as it sounds.

for better or worse, idiots can't run a modern day offense.

personally, i think offensive schemes are over complicated (hi andy reid), but that's the way it is.

But has Young really run a complete offense? Take the ball and do it yourself ain't gonna cut it in the NFL.

I ain't buying this, first off. Sounds like rumor.

Secondly, there's not much to prevent him from just Christmas treeing the thing. He's sitting pretty right now, no matter what the score.

Thirdly, even as someone who does well on standardized tests, I don't buy into all their measurements in real world applications. The rumor is Dan Marino only made something like a 16, while Drew Bledsoe got a 37 or so.

that was the point i was making.

i'm saying this test is the be all end all, and that he can't make it in the NFL. But if the rumor is true i'm sure it will be a red flag for everyone.

rumour is that he was able to re-take the test as a private session and still only scored a 16. (http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm)

This really isn't much of a shocker. I mean, it takes a pretty severely limited mental capacity to voluntarily decide to attend the University of Texas in the first place.

I don't know if he is a moron or not, but the offense Texas ran this year was far from Vince Young completely doing it himself, only the comeback win against Oklahoma State would fit into that category. In the Rose Bowl, Texas ran a pretty decent Option attack primarily ran out a Pro-set rather than the I-formation. To me that seems more than complicated enough to be prepared for a Pro offense.

On the contrary. It doesn't mean that he can't learn a pro offense, but in terms of complexity there isnt even a difference between college and the pros.

That only applies to the undergrads, CP. I hold the UT Graduate School in the highest regard...especially those in the scientific community.

There's nothing wrong with UT. I just hate them because my dad went to A&M (undergrad) and ND (grad), two of their biggest arch-rivals (after OU, of course). I was trying to give Colin props for that doctorate he's working on right now. Carry on...nothing to see here.

And here's where we should all be shocked that an Aggie-lover would be making a dumb joke . . .
