so my CD player is on its last leg which is a shame because I really like it. Anyhow if anyone knows about midfi CD players what do you recommend? I had a Marantz CD-63 a sweet sweet player.. it kills me to replace it

Glad I could help. I was curious what your research would turn up as I wouldn't mind upgrading either. I don't think I could go with a single disc player though. I like putting a small handful of discs on random play too much.

I ended up getting an MMF 2.1 a month ago too so thanks...one of these days I'm going to have to actually get around to hooking it up.

You know, i don't really know much about what makes one cd player any better than any other.

I've got a denon, I like it. I don't notice any glaring difference between that and my discman through the same speakers, maybe the sony is a little bassier...

well there are a lot of things, mainly components used like which digital/analog converter etc. Im no expert and dont really care to be. And I would imagine you would only hear a difference if the rest of the system is worthwhile. Im not an audiophile, but I can hear differences between the mass consumer components and the other stuff..

ps. I pulled the trigger on the Azur.. at $199.00 it was too good to pass up.

Billy, you said you had a phono input on your receiver right? so setting it up should take you 2 minutes.

and prince, denon is quality stuff.. not bad at all

Should is maybe right, but is a long way from did or will. First, I lost the instructions and had to have them fax me new ones. That delayed me a week. Then I took the instructions and began again and the anti-skating weight fell apart. I drove myself crazy trying to rethread it for a half hour before saying screw it. They are supposedly sending me a new anti-skating weight but I've been waiting to get it for 2 weeks now.

Even when I have everything, I'm guessing its going to take me much longer than 2 minutes based on my progress so far.

I was kidding but that doesn't mean I probably won't take you up on that.

just received the Cambridge Audio Azur 540c today in the mail. So far, I can say it looks sweet- very minimalist in design and quite a sturdy box. Only listened to it for a bit so far (Pinback- s/t) liked what I heard but need to give it some time to break in. Updates will come probably
