...i'm just drinking to fall asleep. all the people I came down here to see aren't here yet and the only ones that have already arrived are the ones with kids that went to bed an hour ago. damnit.

I feel like that one episode of family guy where peter stumbles out of the bushes with like 4 darts on him.

is robert redford and paul newman working on a script now going to help their legacy?

np:
"Waddlin' Around" - King Khan & BBQ
this song sounds like the menster phip disc with the piss poor production and vocals that could be a dunken uncle at a Labor Day party. It's got a certain shmoov to it. I like it.

"Life is a Gas" - The Strokes
the strokes covering the ramones. pretty much exactly wha you'd expect.

smoke time.

sitting outside with headphones on, more or less rocking out to the hold steady when I felt a hand on my shoulder and freaked the fuck out. it. was bobby, this guy i grew up with down here, trying to give me a beer. I drank it.

"Tiny Spark" - Brendan Benson
normally, I like this tune, but it's definitely more of an early morning song than a drunk night song, so i skip ahead on random to...
"The Sick Bed of Cuchulainn" (live) - The Pogues
this is definitely a drinking song. and i can't tell what year it is, but Shane's voice is spot on. and I don't bandy around terms like "spot on" very lightly.
"Next to the Moon" - AC/DC
wha huh?

i got started again on metal tonight. watching that special highlight guns n' roses as metal and def leppard but statedly saying that ac/dc wasn't metal. We talked ab out it for awhile on the porch and came to the rough conclusion that if something makes you want to smoke something that wass passed to you wrapped in tinfoil in high school, it was most assurefly metal.

"I Can Hear You Calling" - Three Dog Night
I can't tell if this song should've spawned a genre or if that's exactly what it did, but it's making sense all the same.
"Beat My Guest" - Superchunk

and the ipod just died. hmmmmm

"Waiting Room" - Fugazi
this is the sort of song that I don't even know is on the ippod and it totaly catches me off guard. i used to love this song.

"Rock Song" - Smoosh
this is fucking terrible.

"No Surprises"

"Out On the Weekend" - Bright Eyes
I actually really like this. They highlight everything I like about the original version.

"Palmcorder Yajna" - Mountain Goats with John Vanderslice
I love this fucking recording. I think it's from Atlanta, and it's one of those rare moments when an artist, a guest, and the audience are all on the exact same page.

"Blindfolded" - The Deadstring Brothers
the man sounds like a jagger clone. scarily so. good tune though.

Just got up and monged some leftover BBQ. The over-under on Derris' rising time is 6pm -- I took the over.

Ohhh man. Leftover BBQ sounds awesome. I'm glad you both lived. After some burgers I'm coming back to grill some chicken and make my MUFFULETTA. I will take pictures of this behemoth.
