I might have erred not casting you as Hurley, actually.

I can't deliver a sincere enough "Dude." And if I had to eat a handful of ranch dressing, I'd be Hurl-ing.

I'm not so much worried about the whining, as whether or not you can pull off the accent.

So this is the pregnant Australian chick?

Ok, so if Katie has that and I haven't been here long enough to be a main character, I'll nominate myself as that Australian flight attendant who appeared in the first episode and then disappeared until (I think) turning back up in the second season for one random episode

I've seen a few episodes...I hate how they kill so much time by reshowing the same interactions over and over in between the transitions between different sides of the story.

And the plot follows such a repetitive path, at least based on what i've seen.

1. they discover something
2. people react differently to it
3. they argue over how they will react
4. they react differently and the story splits to follow these different reactions
5. the stories recombine at some point

and all the while interwoven are flashbacks.

not much to it honestly.

A few episodes.
Yeah, you got that pegged, there.

Probably the most complicated TV series ever made, or close to it, and you've got "not much to it, honestly."

How about flipping through Les Miserables and going "oh it's about this guy gets out of prison, this other guy chases him."

belittling (sp) is actually quite fun most of the time.

i've seen a few episodes from each season and every one that i've seen follows that pattern i listed...i'm talking like 4 or 5 episodes. how many are there in total? i'm just not terribly impressed by this show, although it is quite brilliant the way they've set it up so that they can go back in time with any sort of flashback they want ever. clever at least, interesting is up for debate.

Belittlment and causticism are slightly different things in spoonspeak. Belittlment is "what you just said was idiotic." Causticism is more "nice summary, Francis."

I don't think you're idiotic, just wrong.

Gauchebag, Lost would seem kind of retarded to anyone watching it randomly. Every scene and every bit of dialogue, except for a few jokes, are interconnected. Nothing is coincidental and everything's mapped out in great detail, even though the actors don't know where things are headed.

Watching a few episodes out of order probably could hook some people, but many more would think it was just weird for the sake of being weird when all the scenes actually depend on each other.

The real answer is to rent season 1 and spend a weekend watching it, Then pick up from there. There'll still be moments of being annoyed by characters' actions, but most people will be impressed with what a massive and engrossing undertaking it is.

We don't know yet. But it probably was conjured from a comic book by a 12 year old black kid.

i obviously see what's intriguing about it and think that it's cool and absorbing and all that...i just don't know if spending a wknd watching Lost is the best way for me to spend my time.

i wouldn't dismiss it as "weird for the sake of being weird" but that's definitely a major element of the draw of the show, how "weird" (read:unconventional) it is.

Yeah, any opinion made without watching the first few episodes is pretty meaningless.
