Ok dudes. I need help. My current obsession is snatching up Golden-era hip-hop CDs (1988-1991) that ruled my world as a young Whiney.

Unfortunately these things are out of print. And eBay has them for like a million billion dollars. Fortunately, record store clerks in small towns have no clue what things are worth and they end up putting these gems in the used bins of towns I can never get to.

So, FIND ME THESE RECORDS!

If you mail me one of these CDs, you will get:
1. The price of the CD reimbursed in cash money (no more than $10, please)
2. FOUR (or more) of the hottest promo CDs of YOUR CHOICE!!!
3. The latest issue of CMJ
4. A double-disc burn of my year 2004 mixtape!

Ask bort, he did a favor for me and got sweet, sweet swag. Been looking for that Bloc Party EP that comes out next month? How about the new Sage Francis? High On Fire? the Doves? I fucking have them all and more. Anything you want, I will get.

Ask bort. He did a solid for me once and got a big box of promo CDs. He still AIMs me with thanks.

So scour those local indies. Find me these gems. Get swag!

-Cash Money And Marvelous, Where's The Party At? (Sleeping Bag)
-Three Times Dope, Original Stylin' (Arista)
-Poor Righteous Teachers, Holy Intellect (Profile)
-Kwamé the Boy Genius, Kwamé the Boy Genius (Atlantic)
-K-Solo, Tell The World My Name (Atlantic)
-Super Lover Cee And Casanova Rud - Girls, I Got 'Em Locked (Elektra)

you must be swimming in promo's.
I don't even understand how you guys spend money on music since you get so much free.

Do they have to be cd's or does vinyl work?

Because people send me boring indie rock and crappy emo records all day. What i really want is out-of-print hip-hop and underground freaknoise.

CDs only. I don't have room in my apt. for vinyl.

I like having them with art, so they're more like an artifact. A living, breathing document.

I will probably have to grow out of this one day, for it seems everyone likes the MP3s.

Also, I'm far more likely to listen to something if its on my CD wall than in a folder.

This is so fucking true. I think I spent over two hours in two different record stores last night.

I wrote 'em down but I wouldn't put too much faith in Vancouver's used Hip Hop selection. I'll check next time I'm out looking.

-Cash Money And Marvelous, Where's The Party At? (Sleeping Bag) for $17.25 at Gemm on CD.

-Three Times Dope, Original Stylin' (Arista)
$63.25 on Gemm.

-Poor Righteous Teachers, Holy Intellect (Profile)
Only found a CD Single, or LP on Gemm.

-Kwamé the Boy Genius, Kwamé the Boy Genius (Atlantic) $15, vinyl, Dusty Groove. I know you want CD but if you need it, there it is.

Oh wait, Here it is on CD. $9 or $10.66 on Gemm. There are other copies for more there too.

-K-Solo, Tell The World My Name (Atlantic) through a vendor at Gemm on CD for $16

-Super Lover Cee And Casanova Rud - Girls, I Got 'Em Locked (Elektra) on CD, $16 at Dusty Groove. They'll get it in stock, if there's a request, Dusty Groove is awesome. Especially if you let them know what an influential writer you are, blah blah blah. $25 at Gemm on CD.

I care, I really do. But the local likely suspect just closed (I mean 'moved'). Of remaining emporia, one knows the value of everything and prices accordingly, one asserts at the door 'No (c)Rap or Punk' and no luck at the third.
