Speak and Spell, Music for the Masses, and Violator are released on 3rd April 2006 (guess that was the UKL date).

Each deluxe double disc collector's edition contains:
- the re-mastered stereo album,
- the new surround mix,
- all the b-sides from the singles
- and a specially commissioned 30 minute short film featuring new interviews with band members past and present, chronicling that period of Depeche Mode's 25 year career.
- The redesigned 16 page booklet includes original LP art, new photos, lyrics, and sleeve notes by Daniel Miller.

My old boss from the record shop told me about these last night... said they'll be coming in soon. Awwwee yeah.

<---- no longer feels dumb she never bought the CD versions.

There are some mighty amazing B-sides from those records: "Sea of Sin", "Dangerous", that "Enjoy the Silence" Quad-mix with the strings. Yum.

Yeah, but they put the B-sides on the DVD and not the CD.

I read about these and was annoyed that I already own Violator and Masses, but these sound worth the extra cash, as opposed to some reissues.

This is great because many times over the last few years I had to stop myself from going on a DM shopping spree figuring this day was coming. After the Eno, SY & Can reissues I need some reissued albums I haven't bought once. Hopefully like Eno & SY I can find a lot of these used. And unlike Bowie at least it's more material & music then less (what was Virgin thinking again?)

The 30 minute documentary is good but like I said, the damn B-sides are on the DVD. That makes no sense to me. And when you consider the fact that the re-issue runs $22.99 and the original Violator CD by itself is $9.99, you are actually paying a lot extra for not so much.

High five. :)

You know, the fact that you are no longer dubwise really messes with my head.

I heard "blasphemous Rumours" on the radio yesterday. Can't remember what station it was but it surprised the living hell out of me.

I LOVED that song back when I was in high school. Played the hell out of it.

I was in my car driving when it came on, I think I nearly wet myself with glee.

DM are one of those bands whose greatest hits, double cd's I"m always considering purchasing for all the great early-mid 80's tracks.

I've been buying DM albums used for about $5-8 a piece now for about 2 years, and I always thought that this was pretty inevitable. When their latest album hit as well as it did, I knew it was almost a definite. I actually saw these tonight, and they look pretty nice. Very much like the Cure SE discs.

I'm not so big on the early cheezwhiz limpboy plinks and plonks of pre-Some Great Reward Depeche Mode, but after Vince left and the darkness crept in they got good. 84-91, a lot of great songs.
