Yeah, I was ready to throw out some names, but then I saw Broken Social Scene. I just don't know anymore.

yeah, most of the bands suggested here sound nothing like each other

Ignoring the rest of the thread (except for shiv, Naked, Sketch, and maybe Flying Rabbit's posts), here's what I would have said:

Lightning Bolt
Deerhoof
Boris
Serena Maneesh
Jesu
Comets on Fire (been getting less and less noisy, though)
Six Organs of Admittance (mainly the most recent stuff)

This is thinking more in terms of "overdrive" and being "noisy" rather than actual "noise" bands (like Black Dice, Sightings, Wolf Eyes, etc.).

As it is and given BSS as a jumping off point, the only one of those that I think would still apply would be Serena Maneesh.

After seeing Deerhoof live this weekend, I would not consider them as "noise".

But what did you think of Deerhoof live? I haven't seen them in a few years (since they toured for Apple O'), but I've been really wanting to see them again. I wonder how they are without Chris Cohen.

I thought the drummer was amazing! What's-her-face (can't remember her name) came across as more comical vs serious...but that was cool with me. I've only heard a few of their songs and can't really comment on the content performed except to say, they were good. I enjoyed them. I'll pay closer attention later this week when I see 'em again.

Yeah, Greg Saunier (their drummer) really makes the show for them although I also really enjoyed the "dualing" guitarists. I'm kinda curious how that would sound now that one of them has left.

And, yeah, Satomi is kinda funny but really fun. And incredibly small.

Maybe he's thinking of Animal Collective, or something. Combining pop with noise. If so then you can probably include like Liars or whatever.

Mouthus rule all of you.
