I didn't think it was that often that you'd come across a five star review on their site. Old, classic albums obviously. But I don't think I've ever seen one for a relatively new album.

Looking up this new release by Scott H. Biram I read about, it has a full five out of five. And the album's not even out until next week.

Anyone seen any other recent perfect scores?

Never seen it.
Not on recent releases.

How about a link to this Scott H. Biram album you mention?

Here's the label's write-up on him.

I'm always suspicious of things like this on AMG. Sometimes the "reviews" on certain new releases read exactly like write-ups from the label.

Scott H. Biram won’t die. On May 11th, 2003, one month after being hit head-on by an 18-wheeler at 75 MPH, he took the stage at The Continental Club in Austin, TX in a wheel chair -- I.V. still dangling from his arm. With 2 broken legs, a broken foot, a broken arm and 1 foot less of his lower intestine, Biram unleashed his trademark musical wrath.

When Scott H. Biram took the stage at his 2004 SXSW festival showcase right after Kris Kristofferson he was quoted as growling "They said that was a hard act to follow... I'm a hard act to follow motherfuckers!!" The stunned crowd looked on.

It has a 5/5 star rating but there's no review. That seems suspicious to me. Still, he's on Bloodshot so there's a good chance I'll like him.

Yeah, I haven't actually heard anything by him yet. I was just surprised to see a new release with five stars. I'll be sure to check back in a few months and see if it still stands.

They do that a lot. The stars go up but the review may still be in editing, review by others, etc. They usually go live around the time the album is actually out.

This is some serious 'jail-gone to hell-back to jail' s**t.

RIYL - Jim White meets Robert Johnson funneled thru a fuzz box with a four on-the-floor. I can think of several mongers who would dig this -
I'll put up a YSI tonight if anyone is interested.
