Just picked this up yesterday. Not sure if it's been released in the US yet.

Damn this boy's been listening to some Brian Wilson. And some disco.

Definitely more complex than Lovers, but lacks some of the gooey gooey pop goodness. I think it'll be a grower.

Anyway, based on the strength of God Lead Your Soul alone, this was, unheard, in my top 5.

Probably my record of the year thus far.

US release is the 25th of this month.

Thanks for the opinions. I'm eagerly awaiting this one.

Its funny to say this about an album not yet released, but I never could get into it, and I was hoping they would take it more in the ethereal/psych vibe way than the direction they took. Perhaps it merits a re-evaluation.

I also hear Jamiroqui on this piece.

Still not sure how I feel about it. The two singles are good, but at the moment the rest kind of washes over me without anything really standing out. As you (kind of) say, nowhere near as many obvious hooks as Lovers.

Hopefully it will grow on me. I want it to. But then it might be a case of Luke Steele letting his weirdness get the better of him and crossing that line into pretentiousness (and stories about his album launches do nothing to dispell this suspicion).

Hey amgl, let us know how they are at Splendour. And Brian Wilson too

And make sure you catch Dungen. Saw them last night and they were fantastic. Hope it's not raining up there like it is here in Sydney!

Sleepies aren't at Splendour this year, but yeah, it looks like its gonna rain.

I'll definitely check out Dungen and especially Brian Wilson though.

I think it is a decent album, I might like it overall more than I do Lovers, but I don't think the standout tracks on this one are as good as the standout tracks on Lovers.
It may have one the gheyest covers that I've seen in a while, though that might add to the albums appeal too.
