I quit uni. I'll probably go back and do something completely different in 6 months though.

Wasn't for me. I was the top of my class in half of my subjects too...

Now to find a full-time job.

Hope you have a better job in Aus than you would in US.

I did that and it took me 10 years to get back.

The only problem with finding a decent job here is that there are just so many to choose from...

I've worked construction for lengthy amounts in the past, pays 18 bucks an hour, but i don't think i'd last 6 whole months of it this time 'round.

I am/was smarter than most of my contemporaries, but i hated school, and loved waiting tables (which became my focus when I should have been studying in college--never walked) now I own a restaurant in paradise that has been called by experts in the travel industry one of the best in the world.

i haven't finished college either. i've been going on/off... but i landed the job in the industry i want to work for but i'm still going to go back to school in the fall.

working full time and going to school sucks. but i really never had the option of finishing college to begin with since i have to pay for it myself. you gotta do what you gotta do.

i was doing promotions for events just through street teaming (part-time) then went to a temp agency and tried to land a job in marketing after i finally realized that's what i'm good at and wanted to do. so i was in magazine publishing in advertising for 4 years but always wanted to get in the music biz... finally met the right people and got the job through a friend of a friend. but because i already had previous experience in marketing, it helped me. i guess in my situation it was about who you know, but in the music biz, you don't necessarily have to have a degree.

Do you know what you want to do eventually?

Or was that the problem and you just went into a generalist degree while you worked it out? I know a few people who started off doing commerce cos they didn't really know what they wanted to do but felt they had to go to uni (they were from private schools though, so I guess that expectation was always there). One ended up in nursing and the other in one of the health science degrees, so, bit of a difference, but they're much happier doing it.

And, not to interrogate, but what made you decide to drop out now rather than hang on till the end of the year if you think you'll probably end up back at uni anyway (and coasting through the classes, which always makes it easier to transfer)?

dropping out was the smartest thing that i ever did. of course, i went back and finished undergrad and grad school later. but those school-less years were critical.

After college and 200 fsaxed resumes later, I got an internship at a record label, where I worked for 40 bux a week (travel stipend) for almost two years before they offered mea part time posistion. A year later it turned into a full time one....The label went under a year after that. I had connections with my current job as we use to advertise with em monthly, so I got the job here, and here I am 7 years later....a career.
