An amazing songwriter/scorer of films, his latest project is the score for The Fountain. Its so beautiful. I can only imagine how this will compliment the film. I'll be in line to buy this when it hits for sure. Check out the clips on his myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/mansellclint

Also, according to his blog on the page Kronos Quartet and Mogwai contributed so, yeah, this is fairly badass.

*edit* before someone asks it, yes, this is the same Clint Mansell as was in Pop Will Eat Itself.

Nonesuch has posted some snippets.

"Death Is the Road To Awe" sounds amazing with Kronos/Mogwai.

If there's only one more movie I see this year, it has to be this one. I think I'll pick up that soundtrack too.

Picked this up tonight...amazing work here. Integration between rock/symphonic soundtrack works very, very well.

"Death Is the Road To Awe" is one of my top songs of the year, no doubt.

Thanks for the tip, Mr. Rabbit. I had forgotten Mansell was scoring this. Will be sure to buy the album now.

I hear the main theme from RfaD all the damn time. They must license that out to just about anyone.

it really is a gorgeous soundtrack. "Stay With Me" is absolutely incredible, especially the middle section.

can't wait to see the film.

hey flying rabbit, this release should be right up your alley as well...

GREG HAINES - "SLUMBER TIDES"

This is something very special indeed. Coming to us from Deaf Center's Miasmah label it finds Greg Haines giving us a simply superb collection of string-based tracks that move from classical to experimental with style and grace. Composed to perfection and featuring such a warmth and depth it's easily up there with the likes of the Type label and other such purveyors of modern compostitions. Each track is an intimate glimpse into a world shrouded in mystery and depth and the whole thing gels together superbly. I must recommend this as it held me spellbound throughout. Luscious.

Thanks for the heads up. Will check this out. the description sounds ace.

BTW--I actually saw the film this evening. Surprisingly many people were in the theater for how many weeks this has been out, and for it being a 6pm showing.

Simply put, this was a gorgeous film. Both in its stylized look, and the story.

Not clued up on his soundtracks but I met him in the pub before the PWEI reunion gig in London 2 years ago and I can confirm he is a bloody nice bloke.
