sometimes WHO is singing the song, completely changes the meaning of a lyric.
Witness:
"Do Right Woman"
Aretha Franklin (a threat to a neglectful lover)/Dan Penn (advice to a friend)

"Born a Woman"
original singer (a woman's lament)/Nick Lowe (a gleefully toungr-in-cheek sexist anthem)

"Que Sera Sera"
Doris Day (a cheerful piece of 'so be it, everything is swell')/Sly Stone (a lament on the state of race relations and Civil Rights)

It's not always based upon sex of the singer, but these are the only instances I can think of off the top of my head. But it is a powerful thing.

Today you remind me of the weird drunken uncle who sits in the corner at Thanksgiving and talks about nonsense and everyone nods at and says, "Yeah, Uncle Todd. I remember that, Uncle Todd. Sure thing, Uncle Todd."

Shit comes into my head and spills out of my mouth/fingers.
And it's not just the surgery; it's always been this way. I'm just weird. But harmless.

And this is why I so enjoy you.

Everybody's gotten so used to reflexively giving Todd shit, that they actually don't recognize when he comes up with a great thread topic. And this isn't his first time, either.

Props from me, PT. Once the workload subsides a little today, I'll put on my thinking cap and give this one a go.

Interesting topic.

This is why I always loved playing "Peaches" by the Stranglers while DJing.

I like gumballs. I think I'll just start a thread about them.
