i guess i'm the only one who really enjoyed the movie.

nope. i'm right there with you. liked it as much as gondry's last film (even if it didn't have as brilliantly as twisted a narrative). i loved the characters and the tone. i thought it was the best story of a child falling for one with more faculty for complex emotion since rushmore. i found it immenently endearing and a very gently bittersweet movie. the sequence at the end where he falls asleep in her bed was touching and really drove home that he was a kid living in an adult's world. i wanted to see it again the moment i stepped out of the theater.

Just as I was starting to believe you people are OK.

anyone who refers to almodovar as 'that guy who did Talk To Her' is not qualified to call any of his films 'shitty.'

secondly, anyone who thinks gael garcia bernal doesn't work enough is insane. that dude is in about a billion pictures since amorros perros.

agreed. Did you guys see that they are rereleasing all of his films back into theaters?

I don't know, I think the buzz generated due to DVDs and Oscar noms will at least get some people interested.

Saw it last night and it was whimsical and visually interesting. Story was a bit lacking, but I found it enjoyable enough. The theater had a pretty good crowd for the movie (~30-35 people), which I didn't expect after walking in 10 minutes before the movie being the 3rd/4th people in the theater. I'd recommend it to my friends only if they knew what they were getting themselves into with this movie.

i think it's the kind of movie that, if you let yourself be pulled in, is thoroughly enjoyable

*Bump*

anyone pick this up on DVD? Very good. Love the fact that Gondry can get away with such things and get them released to a wide audience.

To keep this music-related, I really enjoyed the soundtrack too. Might have to pick that up.

That's pretty much how I felt about it, only I didn't see it at the theater.

I want to ask for people's takes on the last scene and the end but I don't want to spoil this thread for anyone who hasn't seen it.

I lost track of the movie somewhere around when he broke into her apartment to fix her horse and have no idea what happened at the ending.

Yes. Same shit happened to me. I barely remember any of the movie because I was lost during 3/4 of it.

Maybe we should've had a healthy dose of pot before seeing it. It probably would've then made perfect sense.

I finally saw this yesterday on my day off, and I have to say I enjoyed it quite a bit. There were moments when it was a tad too bizarre or that Stephane would just annoy the shit out of me for blowing it, but I thought the movie wrapped up nicely and there were enough good WTF moments to keep you into it.
I wholeheartedly agree with Neuroboys statement above and I will probably have a crush on Charlotte Gainsborough for a while.
