I went to my 10-year reunion at one of Chicago's worst bars (Joe's on Weed Street) last night. It was weird.

Number of "I'm a lesbian" confessions: 1

Number of "I'm gay" confessions: 1

Former nerds who now look like Mike Ness: 2

Cool kids who got fat: 2

Nerds who lost weight: 2

Number of conversations with people I didn't remember or recognize at all from high school: 2

Creepy dudes running for city council close to where I grew up: 1 (see below)

We converted into 3 people with terrible hangovers and the inability to type.

We had no gay confessions at my reunion. The one person I had heard had came out of the closet, did not come and if there was a lesbian there, they weren't open about it.

We had atleast four people who were relatively popular that had gotten super fat.
There were atleast six heavily pregnant girls there, some of whom already had a few kids to my no kids and no marriage.

I don't remember any huge geeks from high school transforming into a hardcore guy with tattoos or piercings.
I only failed to recognize one person which didn't make me feel too bad, since half of my class didn't recognize me with shaggy hair and glasses. I am also a half foot taller.

I'd guess around 120 out of the 300 or so from my graduating class.

Are these arranged by the highschool themselves? I might be curious to go to mine in six or seven years.

I think its usually the class officers who get the ball rolling. The schools themseves want nothing to do with a bunch of drunks trying to either show off or ball each other.

What's a class officer? Like the student council people?

yeah, the people who are supposed to set up our reunions are the class president and maybe the secretary. (of course, the class president and the secretary's best friend are now divorced, so i don't know how likely it is that we'll ever get a reunion. by what i'd heard, it wasn't too likely anyway.)

Some mysterious person runs the website for the high school I attended, and there is a reunion section on it that seeks out volunteers from all of the classes. I think 6 people from my class spoke up this time around, and I think 4 of those people organized the last reunion, too. I hoped that with a few decent people organizing the thing this time they would be able to select a better venue, but that wasn't the case.
