Took Kilborn's smarm and pop-culture reference bs, combined it with America's secret longing for acceptance by the negro hepcat, and DESTROYED sports commentating, Sportscenter, and ESPN.

Mike "Brilliant!" Patrick, Paul "Watch His Feet!" Maguire and Joe "Ouch, my tib/fib" Theisman----stunningly, these guys were a broadcasting team over the last several years.

Al Michaels is awful. Pat Summerall is the only thing that ever made Madden listenable.

You're crazy, Michaels is about as good as it gets when it comes to PBP.

Summerall was good but the last few years were painful (especially when coupled with Madden who is AWFUL with a capital AWFUL).

I've developed a real dislike for Joe Buck. He's not a terrible PBP guy, but his general smarminess (plus the fact that he claims he had never even HEARD of anyone using steroids until two years ago, towing the MLB line) makes me want to attack him with a hammer.

Big ups to you guys for bringing out those shitty Fox NFL schlubs like Bill Maas and Brian Baldinger. They are almost universally horrible.

Also, I know you guys dont watch NASCAR but the setup is that they broadcast half the season on Fox where they have an amazing broadcast team (Mike Joy, Darrell Waltrip, & Larry McReynolds), and then switch to NBC where the broadcast team (Benny Parsons, Wally Dalenbach, and Bill Weber) is soooo bad, it can render even the most exciting race nearly unwatchable.

Plus whoever directs that broadcast always manages to miss stuff thats happening (a wreck or an important pass) and then not have the shot.

Collinsworth? Really? I think that him and Jaworski are probably the two best nuts and bolts analysts working right now.

Although that Bryant Gumbell and Collinsworth booth is gonna be sticky, may have to watch those games with the sound turned down.

It's not his skill, it is merely his personality with me. The same is applied to Craig James. I just think they come off as smug pricks half the time, while making accurate critcism.

McCarver definitely is a good choice, but I'm going to pick Joe Theisman. He is annoying and incredibly biased.

Example from last night: Buckhalter muffs a handoff from McNabb. Theisman says something to the effect of "I have always believed that when an exchange like that goes wrong it is the quarterback's fault."
Later, Morency does the same thing with a handoff from Favre, and Theisman says something like "That time Morency didn't let Favre give him the ball." Kornheiser could be good in the right situation, but that booth will always suck with Theisman and Mike Tirico there.

Best announcer in any sport: Gary Thorne in a playoff hockey game.

I think Tirico is pretty good. He's about the only guy I'd keep in there. When he did the play by play for the 2005 Alamo Bowl game with Nebraska and Michigan, he was spectacular. Alot of commentators said his call of the final kickoff return with all the laterals got him this gig.

As much as I can't stand some of those already mentioned (Mussberger, Buck, almost everyone who works for FOX), this thread would not be complete without mention of Dick Enberg. He's just SO LAME.

And Gary Thorne for playoff hockey is indeed outstanding.

I hate Dick Vitale.
He knows his stuff, for sure.
But what an annoying asshole.

Bill Walton, too.

Whoever is in the booth for JP Sports. Was it Brian and Brian? I don't know if the rest of the country caught JP Sports but it was so high school media dept qualitity.

Not really a Sportscaster but if I want to kill Mike Lupica, Skip Bayless, and Dan Lebetard. Seriously.

YES. Plus the fact that he is always constantly "reppin' the Heels" since he went to UNC. I'd like to punch him in his lazy eye.

GOD! I couldn't believe how long it took for this name to pop up....were we taking this poll in January, it would have been much sooner. That guy has never used a single adjective when he could think of three instead.

"They've got to get the ball to PLAYER X after this time out. PLAYER X has such poise, such presence, such....uh...(flips through thesaurus) aplomb."

Makes me want to slap the TV, it does.
