And 10-scoop sundaes.
And a classic local joint.

The Zephyr is closing... 10/22
:-(

I had a view of the Zephyr out my hospital window when I had my surgery and it made me smile during those few brutal days.

I also used to pick up Sharon at the Ravenswood Metra stop when she was pregnant with Cary... and I would bring her a peanut butter milkshake at least 2-3 times a week.

Good memories.
Good food.
Good times.
Good bye.

Why the fuck would anyone with access to water drink a foul concoction like a peanut butter milkshake?

very sad indeed. this place is the halfway point between the apartments of z and me. guess the number of local ice cream shops in the hood is down to six from eight with this closing and the shuttering of uptown sweets.

i had breakfast in there on saturday with my mom, but i'm sure i'll be stopping in for a few ice cream treats in the next two weeks.

Clearly, you've never been to Milwaukee. Between Kopp's burgers, Gilles's sundaes... the fries at Golden Gyros, the gyros themselves at Oakland gyros, the waffle-cones at Oscar's (plus, the chocolate custard; better than Kopp's or Gilles's).... You would not be mourning the loss of peanut-butter milk-shakes. Suckers.

Point has been missed, I see.

Hell, I can make a PB milkshake at home, if I want.
Or a 10-scoop sundae.

It is the place, itself that I will miss.

Oh, that was like 4 blocks from my condo.
I never went there as everytime we went to eat somewhere we always forgot to try it.

How freaking big is a ten scoop sundae? That seems like that monstrosity they eat in the first Bill and Ted movie. The only custard we have around here is Culvers, Home of the Butter Burger.

Frozen Custard is that shit I was telling you about, the disgusting frozen butter / egg mixture.

It tastes like frozen yogurt which tastes like a cross between ice cream and a "non-dairy gelatinous beverage."

"They call that a shake."

You mean the most delicious food on the planet?

I got one of these at a Brewers game in May and wolfed it down in less than half an inning. Dangerous.

I think you just got Monty busy for a good 15 minutes.

Yeah, you guys are gross.

Custard, on the other hand, not gross.

I respect that.

Someone bought me some when I moved up here, from Kopp's no less, and I was shocked. STUNNED. It was like a freaky, greasy, bizarro world version of TCBY.
