Nah, I think it's one of the prevailing themes, but there's a couple handfuls of themes. Another one is "can you be violent and still be good."

I think Sayid planned on Sun getting captured. I also saw it suggested on another board that if Sun got captured, Jin would fight and help Sayid - without her getting captured, he likely would not. Makes sense. Sayid doesn't appear to have any qualms about putting others in danger if it gets him what he wants lately.

I assumed the Others pulled up next to the sailboat in another small boat silently and boarded that way. But now that you mention it, we did only see the one boat sail away at the end of the episode.

So how did they get on board? If they didn't come from the jungle and they didn't sail by water, and Colleen and Tom weren't wet?

Remember in earlier episodes when we saw them walking through the jungle (in front of Charlie and Eko, I think), and they were completely silent? These are inhumanly stealthy people. They snuck past Jin and Sayid. Or they used a wormhole.

As far as whether or not "The Others" have their own boat(s), we have no reason to assume that they don't. They just didn't want the crash survivors to have one. And Ben wanted it.

Did anyone happen to take a close look at all of the tv screens and what they were showing in the last episode when it showed Ben listening to Sawyer and Kate's conversation? Just wondering if any clues were given then. I tried to look and see what all THEY were watching but it happened so fast...

The bank of surveillance screens Benry Linusgale was watching was quite a bit older than the DHARMA equipment we've seen in other hatches. It looked like early 60's equipment, early 70's at the latest.

Might give some creedence to his statement he's been on the island his whole life.
