What happened in the last episode? We had a flashback in which stuff happened. Otherwise, the recap is: being capture sucks, and they got the boat.

We saw that the others have some contact with the outside world. One of them got shot. And we had more prison time. You have to expect that. Otherwise the whole capture thing will seem inconsequential.

I dunno. It didn't feel "uneventful" in the slightest especially as far as this show is concerned.

Well, us seeing things aren't really events. And that revelation isn't really earth-shattering, not like the revelation at the beginning of the season premiere at least.

Oh yeah, when I'm watching it I'm enraptured, but then afterward I think "okay, now we're in the same place we ended the last epiosde". But you're right, many episodes are like this, especially in season 2.

I was just thinking about this. If the date is now November 29, 2004 on the Island, doesn't that mean it's entirely possible that they're going to get pretty tsunami'd the fuck in like season 5 or so?

Let's see, in the last two eps:

-we find out ALOT about the Others... a sickening amount. At times our viewpoint is from them. That's HUGE!!! (my prediction/hope is that we get to see some Others flashbacks)

-We learn Jack is more distraught than heroic (awesome cause i hate his high and mightyness)

-We learn Jin can understand english and scared Sun's fling to the point of suicide

-We witness Sun kill/attempting to kill a high profile Other

-We learn Alex is probably on the outs with the Others and with her boytoy in obvious disagreement with them the doors open up for there to more than just one side of Others

-We learn the actual time this is taking place... which in my opinion is HUGE

I do agree the next episode will shed more light on what people care about (Locke, Eko, Desmond) but still these past two episodes have been riveting.

We already knew this, at least roughly.

Don't forget what is (IMO) the most baffling revelation--that the Others have detailed dossiers on everyone. This is somewhat explicable from their contact with the outside world, but there's no evidence that the Others ever got ahold of the full flight manifest, or that they would have any reason to know everyone's last name.

yeah, on the one hand it seemed like the plane crashing there was a surprised to them and on the other hand they knew everything about all of them.

It may have been a surprise at the time, but it might not have taken them long to find out the flight number and then start gathering information on the passengers.

Somehow it didn't really surprise me that they know everything about the crash survivors. They've been kind of dropping hints to that effect since last season.

so has this tsunami thing already been brought up and ruled out? How terrible would it be if the series ended with the island getting wiped off the map by a tidal wave with no explanation of the goings on at all?

my mom says that's the way 2nd grader boys end most of their short stories. "And then a bomb went off and everyone died. The End."

It looked like a surprise to most of the Others, but not to Ben/Henry - he seemed to know exactly what was going on and what to do.

I think a big question that should be raised by that opening of the first episode is "why was that plane flying so friggin' low?!" At that point in the flight, that plane should be at 35-40,000 feet but it was clearly at, what, 500-1000 feet over the island. I don't think it was just creative license showing the plane much lower than it should have been - that plane was way too low to begin with, and it takes far longer for a plane to drop that far than it would have after the event that happened on the island (several minutes, at least.)

Yeah, but it's a bag-headed 2nd grader, which makes it awesome.

We kind of assumed this too. She did help Claire escape after all.

True, but it's going from a rebelious punk into... how did Zeke put "well, something else'.

I'm so hyped up about there being a possible new group that's even more dangerous than Ben.

What do you mean?

Well, first Ben's quote that their "the good guys".
Second "Lost' exec producer Damon Lindelof says the season three theme is "'Us versus them.' But who's the 'us,' and who's the 'them'?"
Third, there's Alex who seems more and more a factor in the second Others group, though she and her friend have been nowhere near dangerous, which does cause my theory a sliver of doubt.

I'm still not convinced that the brutal deaths of the Tailies was due to Ben. Their experience was quite different than the main Lostees though what does tie them both together are Ethan and Goodwin, and maybe it's that similar response that makes me wonder. If Ben treated everything else the same why did the Tailies experience more violence and kidnappings. Ben did kidnap Walt and Claire, but both of those were calculated and not just random.

In general, outside of Ethan's effed up actions, the Others have been way less violent than even the main Lostees, which was quite the opposite with the Tailies. Ben seems organized and strategic but the brutality just hasn't been there, he's restrained and used non lethal force. That just doesn't add up to what Eko experienced.

Which brutal deaths? I thought they were all kidnapped? The only ones that died, I thought, were Libby and Anna Lucia.
