Which brutal deaths? I thought they were all kidnapped? The only ones that died, I thought, were Libby and Anna Lucia.

A bunch of them had supposedly already died (or maybe had just been abducted) by the time Sawyer, Michael, and Jin washed up on their beach at the beginning of season 2. I don't remember what the explanation was, but I think it was generally attributed to the Others. All of the "Tailies" were living in really intense fear.

Whether or not there were "brutal deaths" that weren't caused by violent overreactions by Ana Lucia and some of the other survivors may not really be all that clear.

What do you mean?

Well, first Ben's quote that their "the good guys".
Second "Lost' exec producer Damon Lindelof says the season three theme is "'Us versus them.' But who's the 'us,' and who's the 'them'?"

I thought it was pretty clear that this was just about whether the Losties were really as good as we assumed. I never took it as a hint that there was a 3rd group (except maybe the remaining mechinations of the Dharma Initiative).

Right. The explanation was abduction or disappearance, I thought.

URGENT. Could someone with a digital file of ep. 2 please send to me today? I can't seem to download it anywhere, and can't watch at ABC. I will be forever indebted.

Am I the only one worried about Lost's plummeting ratings? Last week, it damn near lost its timeslot to that talentless hack Mandy Patinkin's crapfest over on CBS. It's some eighth-generation CSI-knockoff that caters to viewers with hot flashes and weak stream, yet it's about to win the timeslot from Lost!!! This is not good news, fellow Lost fans. Not. Good.

HOLY SCHNIKES!!!!

A co-worker was just telling me about seeing this over on the official LOST site message board (abc, com), but have any of you guys seen the full Dharma Initiative video on youtube? I figured it would have been brought up if anyone had. People are questioning if this is leaked, a fake, etc.

Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS9rmXcVA6M

Ok, more info:

Quote:
There is a 4-minue video on YouTube with Alvar Hanso talking about saving the world by changing the "numbers" by changing the environment. It is followed by a 2-minute training video about giving a virus to villagers of Palau. At the end, the person making the video gets caught. I'm sure this has probably been discussed ad nauseum here - what is the consensus, is that real?

The full vid is over 6 minutes and can be found here

The final installment was add a few days later

I think that's exactly where they're going with it. The third group is the one who have the children, and perhaps "the Others we know" took Walt in an effort to do whatever it is that "the Others we don't yet know" do with the children they have taken (because we saw that the children are with a group of actual ragged people, as opposed to the Others who were playing the part (possibly to look like them.))

That Hanso video was kind of a waste of 6 minutes.

My bad. I should have wasted my own 6 minutes before jumping the gun and posting about it, THEN watching it.

Lesson learned.

I think I'm just a little burned out on all the peripheral Lost stuff. I'd rather just watch the show, talk about it a little, and that'd be it.

That equation & the "core values" is some pretty unconvincing pseudoscience.

Well, the number of Tailies was significantly less than the number of people in the other camp. Maybe the Others thought the Tailies would be easily taken, whereas more caution would be needed to handle Jack and company.

I've not found a torrent that will download. I can't watch on abc.com because I'm in Canada.
