Left when I was 17 to go to college. Aside from holiday visits, I never went back.

Me too. Except I had a longer stay for about 2 months in between my apartment lease ending and moving into my house with my wife.

It was 59 days too long. Love them to death though.

Wow. I can't believe how many people moved out for school. I haven't gone to university yet but the one I'm planning on going to is purposefully within the same city so I can live at home.

my parents were very glad when i decided to go to school four hours away from home. half of my high school went to school very close to where i grew up, probably 1/5th going to the college in the town where we grew up. my parents were having none of that. the only time it wasn't ideal was when my ride back to school one sunday left without me.

I moved out at 19, got kicked out of the complex because it was full of old people and well I was 19. Moved to another two apartments before getting really sick of my roommates. Went home to run the family business but lived in the garage/game room, outside of the house. Lived there until my mom forced me out of the business, even though I was very successful. I thought OK; I can do whatever I want now and have never been out of Southern California, almost moved to Colorado for a job. A friend asked me if I wanted to try something really different and live with him in San Francisco, hated the place for the first four visits but grew to like it. It took my nine months to adjust, so very different from So Cal, but grew to love the place. There I had four different roommates including times when I lived by myself. Now I'm back in the OC and couldn't be happier to be home (OC, not the old house) but glad I moved away for a period of time.

17 when I first moved out during the summer between my junior and senior years of high school. I lived and worked in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and made the best money ever. Did that for all of the summers between college years and then after I graduated.

Moved home at 22/23 for a few months and then moved out to CA for a couple years. Came back and for about 9 months between 25/26 lived at home again.

Now I am on my own again.

17, kicked out of the house so i stayed with a friend until i moved into dorms for college. but that didn't pan out well since they cut off education as well and frankly couldn't afford to go to a university.

I officially moved out when I left for Grad School at the age of 23. I spent six months there after getting my BA, as well as a few summer during my undergrad, so I can't officially count those years.

22... within the next two weeks hopefully. The place is great, small duplex but everyone that lives on the street is cool and we have bonfires and massive parties. I'm moving in with a girl I don't know and she's paying all of the bills. I just pay for my share of the rent.

Whoah. Bad idea. She'll have all the upper hand no matter the situation.

I moved out at 18 for one year of college. Came back and lived at home until I was 21. Moved in with husband (then boyfriend) at that point. Have lived with a roommate for the past two years now.

My parents are pushing hard for me to move back into their house until I finish school. I don't know about that.

Left at 18 for college.
After graduation I moved DIRECTLY into my own place, at 23.
Then came back home from 24-25 to try to get rid of some of my debt.

It was good timing, because I was at home when I was going through my diagnosis for MS. It helped to get through it to have my parents there.

But then I was out for good at 25. And married a couple of years later.

Don't really care. Right now I'm stuck in my parents garage in a household involving my brother, his ho (who I hate) and his five kids. Getting along with one person as opposed to nine is a very good trade.

18. College. Dorm. Came back the next summer (19), and then left for good.

I need to go back to visit. It's only a little over a two hour drive, but I don't think I've been since last Christmas.

18, college. Then when the wife talked me into moving up here 5 years ago, and I chickened out after 8 months, I landed at Mom's place again for about 3 months. Then 5 months with a friend, then back up here for good.

It was odd, trying to figure out when to do the dishes, and laundry, and all that at mom's. Old habits and such.

Age 18 - Graduated High School and left for Athens, GA. Moved into Towne Club Apartments with 3 other guys. 2 from my hometown and one from Dallas who ended up in rehab the same year. I moved back home for 8 months during college because I was kicked out of UGA on Academic Probation, and I moved back home when I left NYC. Those couple of months after living in NYC and then moving back to 17k population Americus, GA were TOUGH. That's pretty much the only reason I moved to Nashville and took the job I did. In my mind, there was no other option.

Dallas guy is now a stock broker in NYC and engaged. He's been sober for 8 years.
The roommates from my hometown... The first, I haven't seen or heard from in 8 years and the other I see once or twice a year. He moved back to South Georgia and is a timber consultant/future GOP politician.

HA!

Me and a friend once got underage consumption tickets after jumping into the pool at Towne Club in our boxers at 3 in the morning.

There just happened to be a cop patroling through the parking lot and heard us yelling as we did cannonballs into the pool.

He wrote us tickets right there as we stood in our boxers soaking wet. We were 19 and completely trashed.

Ahhhhhh college.
