Pardon my reverse cynic humor but what are the chances anyone will actually attempt to hack those voting machines?

You don't forget anything.

Frightening documentary indeed. Well, God help us tomorrow and '08.

I am amazed that anyone would use these machines, after all the problems which have been exposed.

Now that punch cards have been replaced by digital screens, does that mean we can expect the next voting controversy to be FROZEN Chads, or The Blue Chads of Death?

Dunno, but it seems like ever since Bush/Gore we (as a society) have been hell bent in making or supporting decisions that'll come back and take a chomp outa our collective a**.

I heard someone on NPR earlier (didn't catch the beginning, so I'm unsure who) but anyway, he said we should just get all the voters in one place and have people raise their hands. Ok, sounds dumb but the context in which he said it was good as he was talking about this very thing -- fears of votes not being counted, or accurately counted, etc.

I've voted on electronic machine's in every election since the 2002 State Primaries (so 5 times) and I'm not sure anybody I've voted for has won...so they must be fixed.

I did crack a "well, no way that ballot is getting counted" joke in 2004 but none of the poll workers laughed.

'Nah', they just get some stooge to do it for them..

Quote:
Convicted Republican Phone Jammer Blamed GOP "Culture" and Was Afraid to Push Back on RNC Official.

As he finished serving a prison sentence for "jamming Democratic phone lines in New Hampshire during the 2002 US Senate race," Allen Raymond told the Boston Globe that the "scheme reflects a broader culture in the Republican Party that is focused on dividing voters to win primaries and general elections. He said examples range from some recent efforts to use border-security concerns to foster anger toward immigrants to his own role arranging phone calls designed to polarize primary voters over abortion in a 2002 New Jersey Senate race." The scheme led to "the convictions of Raymond and two top Republican officials, and a Democratic lawsuit that seeks to determine whether the White House played any role."Allen said "he got caught up in an ultra-aggressive atmosphere" and that "he had been reluctant to turn down a prominent official of the RNC, fearing that would cost him future opportunities from an organization that was becoming increasingly ruthless." (Boston Globe, 06/10/2006)
