Anyone want to up some Jimi Hendrix albums for me? A box set or a few of the albums?

My Hendrix "collection" has become severely outdated (damaged cd's, lost tapes, etc.)

Any help will make my day.

Tell me what you want. Better yet, here's what I have in electronic form...

(turns out it's a pale shadow of what I have on disc, but some goodies all the same)

Jimi Plays Monterey
Radio One
Ultimate Experience.

Monterey is the album that gave me goosebumps for the first 40 times I heard it at 14... so much talent, so much power. Fucking hippies had no idea what hit 'em. Best part, during Like A Rolling Stone: "Yes I know I missed a verse, don't worry!" Edit: also recall that this was his first big re-intro to the US after Chas Chandler had snatched him up, taken him to London, recorded Are You Experienced, gotten Hey Joe on the radio, and then brought him back for this. How do you fuckin DO.

Radio One is pretty good, all live from the british studio broadcasts. I especially like Drivin South and Catfish Blues, though it's full of little surprises.

Ultimate... must've beena gift. I have all of those songs already on other discs.

So lemme know.

Oh, hey, if you put this up, I'd like to get it, too. Not sure what happened to my copy of that album.

I have the 3 Experience albums, and I could probably upload those later.

Honestly, like I told Northern Soul, I will take anything.

Ultimate Experience definitely, but the others would be great if you wanna take the time to up them.

Well shit. I assumed you had the basics, so I started upping Monterey.

So here's a good chance for folks who don't have this - it's very very good, and in about 2 hours it'll be done uploading. -sigh. Stay tuned.

I had the basics, but the basics are useless and unplayable now.

That's why I will take anything.

Thanks, dude.

I'm uploading Are You Experienced? right now, but it's the 1993 version which I just found out has a mixed-up running order. No big deal, though, as you could probably just rearrange the tracks to match the original US or UK version (it has all the same tracks, I believe). And it sounds fine.

Pm'd.

If you've ever seen posters or concert footage of him with the dark background, orange/red pants, big flowery shirt, that's Monterey. The lights were very red. It's better when you can see how much he was flipping the guitar behind him, or beside him, playing with his teeth, etc. The whole "lighter fluid" incident is at the end. Truly amazing how normal it sounds on tape, considering the showmanship... he really put on a helluva show trying to impress people.

This is the show where Pete Townsend flipped him a coin backstage to see who had to follow whom, neither wanting to go after the other. Jimi lost, jumped on a chair, and said "If I'm gonna follow you, I'm pulling out all the stops."

Oh, this is the 69 Monterey festival? I have seen some footage of this. It was awesome. THis was the first time he played a major festival in the U.S., right? I remember they were showing the crowd when he lit the guitar on fire and the women in the front rows just had their jaws dropped covering their mouths. It was hilarious. You could hear them thinking, "what. the. fuck is this?"

Yep. This was his big US debut, even though he'd been shlepping it behind Little Richard and the Isleys for years prior.

This show...

awesome. I don't remember where I saw the footage. I think it was on IFC or something years back.

Now, a better question: what's the best way to change m4a to mp3?

Hmm... If it's not locked (and it's not) then iTunes will do it.
