Does anyone have this yet? August 8th release date. I loved their '05 release Stairs & Elevators, but I didn't hear it in time for it to make my final list. I heard about them through some obner's top 20 last year, so I know at least one other person here likes them. :)

That person is Saint Patrick.

I listened to that last one a few times. I dunno. Not terrible. I guess "meh" is the word I'm looking for.

Yeah, it's nothing spectacular. The first two tracks really made the album for me, I was crazy about those songs. And the rest just grew on me.

I saw them live in April, and they were kinda crappy. They sounded good overall, but the chick singer kept having to look down when she did her chord changes and that made her bring her mouth away from the mic. It was amateurish.

#4 of 2005. IMHO, best 'rock n roll' album of the year. I see them as kind of a latter day X-meets-Pretenders melange. I didnt know they had a new one, will check it out.

I dig 'em too. Their first disk really grew on me too. I kind of had to get used to her voice, and the more I listened, the more I felt her emotions.

(Plus they are local, but I haven't seen 'em live yet.)

I must have listened to the album 5 times before I realized it was a female singer.

This is excellent news. I think that I liked their cover of "Done got old" better than anything on their album (which i also liked). looking forward to this coming out.

The chick reminds me of a poor man's Rachel Nagy, and I mean that as a compliment. That last album of theirs showed promise. Perhaps they will fully deliver on that promise this time around.

Not what I was expecting, but I like it.

I downloaded it awhile ago but really haven't listened to it yet which is surprising because I really liked the first album.

It's like someone forced a piano and a handful of downers on her before she went into the studio.

But I think it is pretty good.

Yeah it's a bit less straight forward than Stairs and Elevators was.

There are some slower tempo numbers and weird time signatures (Finding Solutions) that have a more hypnotic vibe. I actually think it's a bit more accomplished musically.

It really grew on me after my initial meh impression. Still love "Searching for the Ghost". Then again, I love this girls voice.

Maybe I should give it one more shot before the end of the year. I haven't listened to it since August.
