I really wish I'd heard that Christine Fellowes album (Paper Anniversary)when it first came out, as opposed to 3 months ago. Would've been my #1 or #2 album this past year.

Anyone else coming up with good "wish I'd heard it when..." stories while Schmooing it up? Not sure if one of these has gone around yet...

Oh, and I'm talking fairly recent releases, not Incredible String Band reissues or the like. Not that there's anything wrong with the Incredible String Band or anything...

I thought this was going to be a list of your favorite albums in 2006, but instead of doing 20 or 30 or 50, you were going to do 2005 :D

oh, and Serena-Maneesh, which I guess is technically an '05 album though the U.S. release was in '06.

I got Micah P. Hinson & the Gospel of Truth in late December and it took a long time to sink in. I really like it now. It didn't make my list but would probably be top ten now.

I just got around to getting Eugene Kelly (Vaselines/Eugenius/Captain america) "Man Alive" a month or two ago...its really good and would have probably made the lower half of my top 20.

Lots of world music releases that I was late to the game on. Its hard to stay current on what's going on in small african nations.

I'm already discovering 2006 albums that probably would've made my list if I had listened to them sooner.

oh, plenty...

ryan adams - jacksonville city nights
goldfrapp - supernature
richard hawley - coles corner
rachel stevens - come and get it
nicole willis & the soul investigators - keep reachin' up

these five would've probably made my top-20 in 2005 had i not heard/bought them in 2006.
