That is a great line. I need to just force-listen to this 10 or so times this week.

That's my assumption too but I don't know which i would find more surprising Neko making the top 3 or not making the top 20. I can't think of anything else it could be though.

Yeah, top three? Really?

I haven't heard it. I'm sure it's good. But I'd be surprised.

Hold Steady never clicked with me beyond the few songs that people rave about.

Nice image not unlike my own thoughts. No hate on M. Ward just no bite. I still keep a folder of albums waiting, begging me to hang in there, but nah, not yet. Leon, there was a day in my cassette years he'd be up in a comp of mixed blues and cajun music.

The Decemberists always have a track or two I like, but I grow tired with them quickly. He shoud stick to sea shanties -->inside joke to myself<--.

I never gave The Hold Steady much listen beyond clips. It seems worth revisiting.

Good reviews all, thanks.

I'm not sure if i added the hold steady album to my list after having to dump Art Brut. The decemberists were on the list however (Top 10 maybe).

Nice work reviewers.

T.I. would still be better than Neko Case.

I didn't bother to listen to the Neko, but like I said, just not my cup of tea.

Did you see our fave on that M. Ward is the same?

Man I really grew to love that Hold Steady album. I was just playing it yesterday afternoon and it's still doing it for me. 'Massive Nights' is one of the best songs of the year. I actually find myself wanting to play this album back to back, like I don't want it to end. That just never fucking happens anymore and is the sure sign of great rock and roll.

I can understand differing tastes (I myself can't listen to Decembrists... wimpy self-important emo-lite posturing... but I can hear how someone could like them). But I can't think how I could trust anyone who could listen to Hold Steady turned up very loud, and not understand this is the heart of rock and roll. I also hear him more like Jim Carroll or Ian Drury than Bruce.

I'm in agreement with both of you. And Dave the vocals come out after some repeated listenings. This might be might favorite record of this decade and I didn't like it at all when I first heard it. And Citrus might be my favorite song, Rod.

Your opinion certainly matters, but our tastes differ, bro.

Are you with HRC for prez?

My choices would be, in this order:

Webb
Gore
Obama
Edwards
Clinton

But the more I hear assholes rag on her rag (imagine waking Hill up in the middle of the night... heh, heh, heh... scratch nuts, burp, build coronary plaque) the more I do see the reaction to her as essentially sexist, not about policy, or even really about HER. I have given money to her, and should she get nominated (watch CA change its primary date, and so much for Gore) I'd give lots of money and work very hard for her election.
