Yeah it crapped out.

How many records from his back catalog do you think he sold with that performance?

I'm betting at least 100,000.

He knocked his mic stand over, which made a loud POP, and then his guitar was barely coming through - shouldn't have had anything to do with each other, but it was the exact same second. I could still hear it.. probably fom under the stage or wherever it was, since it was probably 14 feet tall and turned up to 11. Fuck, I could probably have heard it out Busty's window if I'd have opened one.

I just want to say THANK YOU, OBNER BEARS FANS - you were so fucking obnoxious throughout the season that, for the first time, I actually had a vested interest in who won the Superbowl. Subsequently, that was the most satisfying and entertaining shitty football game I've ever seen.

Also, Prince was extremely good (for a half-time show). Amazed he didn't get electrocuted in that pelting rain.

Took the words out of our mouths, last night. Without their unrelenting nonsense all year long, I would've had no reason to cheer a'tall.

the thing that gets me is not the fact that they lost. its how they lost. if they played perfect and lost then i could say "well there was nothing more the bears could do" and be ok. it was just that they (mostly grossman) were making boneheaded plays. to be only down 5 starting the 4th quarter was a godsend, a gift opportunity, but then grossman starts chucking floaters that get picked off. or earlier when jones runs for 9 then grossman trips over himself and fumbles on the next two snaps. so the fact they lost it more than the colts won it is what really frustrates me.

See, this is where Grossman isn't totally to blame. 2nd and 1, and you put the ball in Rex's hands? They just ran for 9, and were really starting to move the ball - yet Lovie wants to throw. That is not bears football, my friend.

well someone has to take the snap from the center. regardless if they were going to throw, it's hard to give yourself a chance if your flopping all over the field on the snap

Problem looked clear-cut to me: Grossman can neither throw nor catch a wet football. Manning can.

Wrong. It could have been a lot worse of a beating. The Colts physically dominated the Bears all night long.

That's the thing nobody has been talking about.

The best squad out there last night was probably the Colts Defense.

Bears only had one TD scoring drive and they had the ball on their own 43 for that.

Bears are a good team in a mediocre conference.

Check this story out from Peter King's column:

Quote:
Manning was one of the last players on the field for the 1 p.m. practice. Instead, he stayed under an awning behind the facility, with two huge bags of footballs. In the regular season, each team controls the balls it uses on offense during games. They condition 12 balls each week, and Manning has his equipment staff and ballboys break in the balls. But at the Super Bowl, because the league wants so many more balls ready so the balls can be fresh all game long, the NFL mandates that 54 balls be prepared. Fifty-four!

The Colts' staff got the official Super Bowl XLI balls at their Indianapolis facility 12 days ago, and the equipment staff began rubbing the waxy sheen off the balls. Most quarterbacks want to throw a worn-in football, so they can get the feel of leather, not wax. Now, two days before the Super Bowl, the staff thought they had enough good balls ready, and it was time for Manning to inspect them. He stood under the awning with two of the equipment guys, Sean Sullivan and Brian Seabrooks. A ball would be tossed to him, he'd palm it, rolls it in his hands. He'd nod and throw it to one side, or shake his head and throw it to another side -- the bad side. On the good side were 26. "I can't feel the difference in those,'' Manning told the guys. "Those are fine. But now we need 28 more.''

So, beginning at 2 p.m., with practice in full swing, the equipment crew found as many hands as they could to break in 28 more balls. They had a batch of 36 to work with. They even got an Indianapolis police officer, assigned to do Super Bowl security for the team, to help. Sixteen men in all -- equipment managers, ballboys, two scouts and the cop -- went to the other Dolphins practice field. They paired off in eight groups of two, standing about 15 yards apart. And for the next 50 minutes, they played catch with the footballs, throwing them to each other on one hop, occasionally stopping to spit on, sweat on, and rub dirt on the footballs. It looked like a beehive of criss-crossed activity, and occasionally Manning would look over, making sure the 28 balls were getting conditioned to his liking. One guy kept taking the ball he was working with, putting it up his T-shirt, rolling it around to maximize the sweat on it, then rubbing the ball hard with his hands.

"So meticulous,'' Sullivan said. "Incredibly meticulous. We were going to stay out there till he had 54 balls he liked, and it didn't matter how long it took."

After practice, Manning stayed late, throwing and tossing and feeling the balls. After 10 minutes, he had 28 he liked.

On Sunday, those 54 balls were rotated into the game, and Manning thanked his lucky stars he'd been so nerdy in getting them all right. It rained all night, one of the worst two or three weather games of his pro career, and the ballboys on the sidelines replaced the balls after nearly every play. Could you imagine, Manning thought, what would have happened if he hadn't gotten 54 balls ready? What if he got 24 ready and thought, Well, that's enough; we'll never get to the bottom of the pile.

"Actually,'' he said early this morning, "it was almost good that I had a little thumb problem. [He banged his thumb on a helmet two weeks ago and played with some pain in the Super Bowl.] I couldn't grip the ball as tight as I normally might, so it didn't slip out of my grip at all. And it was good the ball got replaced in and out of the game so much, so we could use dry balls all game.''

I took a day off from work to recover from the drinking, so I will not be around much too comment besides this time.
My thoughts:
The opening kickoff combined with Manning's INT made me think I was going to be in for a long night of watching the Bears dominate without much offense.
It was kind of funny to watch Vinatieri miss a kick without it costing them the game.
The side bet action at the party I went to was crazy. I would have won five bucks if the Bears first 15yd penalty had happened before the Colts false start in the 2nd half, since I said the first penalty of the 2nd half would be a 15yd penalty on the Bears.
I thought the halftime was fairly sedate and was expecting alot more from Prince, although I was pleased to see that he didn't play 1999 in the year 2007 at the Super Bowl. I barely paid attention to most commercials as I was usually too busy grabbing another PBR.
I was glad the Colts won, but I thought the Indy RB's should have been the MVP. If Addai would have broke 100yds too, I would have said he deserved it alone.

Yes, though the curse of Bob really irks me as well.

And an arm like a limp dishrag. This dude isn't Elway, shouldering a team to 3 Super Bowls. The two interceptions, and the other duck had the trajectory of a moon-shot-parabola. Sorry, I would have cut him DURING the game. I understand being a homer, but, as I said a long time ago, he's not going to get you there.

This is what the naysayers having been saying about Peyton Manning for the past 3-4 years now. Seems kind of stupid now, huh?

Also, I have to take issue with the Bears D. Playing that bullshit soft zone was their death knell. No pressure on Manning, and basically being in prevent most of the game made all of those 8 yard dumps and 6 yard runs a virtual certainty. You are lucky it was raining or the score would have been worse.

Had you been actually watching the game instead of drinking yourself into a stupor you would have noticed that the Bears' defense stopped the Colts offense in the red zone 6 times, making them settle for field goals mostly if not making them punt it away on fourth down.
