anyway, do you listen to bands on myspace? i'm not asking for the sake of a discussion about the impact of myspace on the music industry (but feel frfee to have at it anyway), i'm asking if i posted a link to a band would you take the time to listen to it?

In general no, but if someone i trusted sent me a link to a band on there I'd check it out.

when bands add me, i try and listen for a few seconds.
if i like it sometimes i listen to a full song, and sometimes even two.

I don't usually listen to unknown bands that try to add me, but I will listen to stuff like the new Arcade Fire songs.

And I find it singularly irritating that most bands have their crappy songs all set to play upon the page loading. The first thing I do when opening up someone's myspace page is to find the goddamned pause button.

The idea is that Myspace will become a forum for sharing and buying music, not just spam promoting.

i know people listen to my songs becaues they leave messages that say, "enjoyed your tunes, come check out my band on friday"

If someone sends me a friend request and their band looks like it might be vaguely in the area of stuff I like then I'll turn on my speakers and have a listen. If I like it I'll add them, otherwise no go.

There are mos def some bands/artists on there that I am happy I discovered.
