Yeah, of the nominated movies, Iwo Jima was my favorite. Tristram Shandy was probably my favorite from last year though.

Last King of Scotland was my fave. Whoever threw out that Scorsese's win would be for one of his lesser efforts is right. From the Stones at the beginning to Jack's scene chewing, it was almost like reading Thompson on ESPN: "GET ME MY TOP 10 CLICHES!!"

Marco, despite my having West Bank Story for whatever category that was, I think we made the exact same pics.

I didn't see Iwo, because I made a vow to never see another Eastwood movie. Him and comic book flicks: MUERTA!!

You mean movies he's directed, right? I mean, only a madman would pass on The Good, The Bad and The Ugly for moral reasons.

OK, I didn't see any of the other foreign films, but if that German film is better than Pan's Labyrinth, I'll eat my copy of Pablo Honey.

Oh, I mean, movies he's made from X date forward. No way I miss a seventies flick with an Orangutan that shows on TBS at 3am.

That's very true. Excepting the last 10 min of Unforgiven where he kills everyone in sight except for Saul Rubinek.

The problem is the first 96 hours of that movie.

Yeah, I hear you. Although I still like the English Bob interlude with Richard Harris.

"If you were to try to assassinate a king, sir, the, how shall I say it, the majesty of royalty would cause you to miss. But, a President, I mean...why not shoot a President?"

I was wrong on a few things, but I was fairly certain on this. If anything, this is a win to show that the academy recognizes Little Miss Sunshine as a worthy film.

Diane Keaton looks better now than she did in the '70s.

I think that's the first time I've ever seen the 'Best Picture' winner while it was in theaters.

I thought for sure she would come out wearing mens clothing like she always does. Thank goodness she looked like a woman for once.

(She was cute in the 70s... Annie Hall? Gorgeous.)

But anyway:

I can't believe that Pan's Lanyrinth didn't win something cooler. and that Children of Men got bupkus. Still, i've seen more movies this year from the nominees than ever before, i think.

The Duck of Death, indeed. And that movie is awesome from beginning to end, Dump--speak the truth and don't fear the ire of Sen. "I qualify as a film expert by hating every one I see" LooGAR.

As for the Oscars, I watched until I fell asleep a little after 11:00 pm EST so I saw nothing higher than Supporting actors and the animated and technical awards that NOBODY cares about. Seriously people, can we get this over a lil' earlier?

Unforgiven was definitely awesome from start to finish.

One man's awesome is another man's coma

And I would place the blame on the Cars thing solely at the feet of the Larry the Cable Guy-voiced character.

Apparently Forest Whitaker's Oscar is now in the possession of the I.R.S.
