interesting. Looks like some ESP Disk album from 60s. Or a Silver Mt. Zion cover. In any event, there it is. Who knows whether this is slipcase or not.

i can't wait for this leak...my expectations aren't really that high as it really can't possibly top A Ghost Is Born, which I really think has become my favorite of their albums.

Heady brah. Definitely looks like an album cover from Constellation Records.

AGIB leaked at least 3 months ahead of the release, didn't it?

SBS review copies are out there somewhere, so it's bound to make its way out soon.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the new record. I like what I've heard from the live material, but nothing has blown me away the way a few songs from AGIB, etc. did before their actual release.

This album is going to be under major scrutiny considering they've gone to great lengths to become "important." Just like with AGIB, people will like Sky Blue Sky and people will hate it because it doesn't sound like A.M.
I have a feeling it's going to sound like a cross between Tweedy's solo stuff, Loose Fur and Summerteeth.

Well, AGIB minus Spiders and Less Than You Think would probably have satisfied a lot of the older fans. So long as SBS doesn't have a lot of those moments, I think the AM/BT/ST crowd will be pretty happy with it.

Although, I think the important tag has been around since at least ST. All it took to become a "serious artist" in 1999 was a nod in the direction of or reference to Brian Wilson and Pet Sounds.

And here I was waiting with baited breath for another 12-minute feedback solo!

haha

If the album is even half as good as it sounds live, it will no doubt be my number 1. The new songs played live are so amazing. Impossible Germany is probably already one of my favorite Wilco songs.

Very eager to hear the new configuration on record. As much as I like Ghost, the new band destroys that material. That record always brings up "what could have been" moments.

Especially when Tweedy goes solo-crazy.

Oh man, I can't wait for this album. Just saw Cline and Kotsche last night, and they are flat out geniuses. Amazing show.

So will I, but that would pretty much require Tweedy and Jay Bennett to kiss and make up. We're more likely to see an O'Reilly-Olbermann commitment ceremony before that will ever happen!

I dunno. This is one of my most anticipated of the year but I really don't care if it sounds anything like the others. I'm a fan of all of them and I really enjoy hearing a band grow and try different things on each record...I'm really more curious to hear where they're gonna take it, especially with the new members (love Nels Cline!)

I wouldn't mind if it doesn't sound like any of their past releases. I also wouldn't mind if it sounded like some of their past releases.

As long as it doesn't sound like A Ghost Is Born. I cannot listen to that album without feelling a bit ill, physically. That's not to say there aren't some decent songs... but as a whole the album... it doesn't flow. The production seems to sap a lot of the life from the band. Too many clunker songs.

Anyway, perhaps more on topic with the thread, I love that album cover. And considering it's being released on Nonesuch, that is probably the slipcase.

The cover reminds me of:

[img][440:668]http://www.marvel.com/comics/onsale/covers/0207/NEWAVN027_COV.jpg[/img]

Did we ascertain if it's based on an old painting or anything?
