The Fly (2008)

Nic Cage is reportedly in talks for the Jeff Goldblum role.

A remake of a remake. Great.

I mean, it's one thing to have a ton of film versions of classic books or plays, but as far as I know The Fly was original to film (and even if it isn't, the source material is clearly not classic).

the source material is a short story by Charles Langelaan. It's made a bunch of collections over the years. It wasn't a bad story. It's just hard to compete with Price and Cronenberg.

Not really. And, "source" material be damned, you just can't do Kafka justice without a pillow.

i don't have a big problem with remakes very few of them are any good or creative enough to have a reason for existing, but it's not the concept of the remake that is the problem.
