anyone catch this on PBS last night? i'd never seen it before...and oh my gar was everyone just out of their tree? it was awesome. great little set by the stones at the end, and it was priceless when mick had to pretty much pick up marianne faithfull off the ground while they were singing "salt of the earth".

the only real bummer was yoko ruining the dream team of lennon/keef/clapton/mitch mitchell by wailing on the mic. wtf was that?

Yeah it's pretty much the Monger Olympics.

The Stones just entering into the greatest period of their career.

I'm sure no drugs were involved in the making of this.

All I can ever think about is "what must be going through Brian Jones' head at this point? Does he realize that he is no longer relevant?"

Interesting to remember back when this first hit cd, and how much of a hoopla surrounded it. Keep meaning to pick that DVD up.

The only thing running through his mind is "RAPERAPERAPE"

I own this on DVD (Suspriseg!) Pretty good snapshot of a time period

No shit. I finally saw this last night, and Yoko's banshee screaming was definitely the low point, which came after one of the high points (TEH DIRTY MAC). Was that just a one-shot deal with those guys, or did they ever tour and/or record an album? Clapton was SHREDDING on that first tune of theirs!

What amazed me most was the artist I personally found to have stolen the show was none other than Taj Mahal. Great stage presence. Kinda looked like Michael Irvin, but I won't hold that against him.

I think the close-ups of Ian Anderson singing with Tull scarred SHEFRAC for life.

The world was a better place when Charlie Watts had long stringy hair.

I've never seen Gimme Shelter either. I've read about a billion things about it but never seen the actual film.

It's DEFINITELY worth checking out. If for no other reason than to see Marty Balin get his ass kicked.

I thought the same thing about Lennon...he looked and sounded awful. That Dirty Mac mess was everything that was wrong with the late sixties.
