Unfortunately, my brother's cat was a victim of the tainted pet food going around. This was one of our cats growing up, who stayed with my parents after we grew up and moved away. She got very sick last week, and her kidneys were failing. She was not getting better, and was put to sleep yesterday.

She was pretty old, and I think that her immune system was not strong enough to handle it. Fortunately the other cat is fine, despite eating the same food. She is a bit younger and more healthy.

She was the calmest kitty ever -- we called her "Zen Cat." She spent most of her life lying on her "throne", which was a footrest adorned with her red blanket. She would lie there and just purr, even with no one petting her. She was always playful, even in her last days. Going home will never be the same.

Rest in peace, Sophie.

They can switch to non-major label brands. Or do what my dad does... buy massive bags of chicken breasts, and cook one every day for his dog.

That stinks. Many of the cat owners around here have switched to dry food. So sorry to hear about the cat.

A lot of the dry food has been pulled off the shelves too. At this rate, we might start hearing about rat poison in the human food supply soon.

I love cats. I'm sorry to hear that such a great one passed.

My parents 22-year old Burmese died a few months ago.

She was the best.

Did anyone else misread the title as talented pet food?

Also, when did this shit go down? We feed her Nutro, should we be on the lookout?

Definitely. Nutro has been pulled from shelves. Check out the list here:

Rat poison was found in various brands of pet food which has resulted in millions of dog and cat food being recalled in North America.
