Those two guys are morons. They are what is wrong with the media today. Sure, maybe she was being a little melodramatic, but she's got the right idea.

Good for her.

Good for her. And on a side note, she's kind of hot.

Exactly, If you don't want to report about Paris then just shut the fuck up about her, I mean Paris gets the same amount of attention if you talk that much about not talking about her. I bet her boss was pissed at her, unless it was just a publicity stunt.

I am glad people are not reporting on it. Waste of time. Plus, you can already see Paris' cooch on the internet. Why does anyone care about her terms of probation.

Pretty sure he meant the anchor. And if not, that's what I'd mean.

She made a stand in the context of the news broadcast, which means the whole time she had a director or her boss yelling at her in her earpiece to read the goddamn story, and they kept handing her the same copy over and over. It's not like anchors are the ones who decide what's news and what isn't - so I've got no problem with her attempting to burn the copy. Good on her. And yes, she'll be in a boatload of trouble right now.

Oh, did they hand her more copies than just the original one? Hmm, I didn't catch that, well in that case that does make a lot more sense.

This is so stupid. First of all, how much time was wasted on these antics, when it would've taken 30-45 seconds to report the damn story. This is completely a ratings booster. Why else would MSNBC be showcasing this on their website, when she puts a)puts down the company and b)hits out at her producer.

I'm sick of Paris like everyone else, but this behaviour isn't any better in terms of professionality. This was like watching Regis & Kelly or some shit.

so she should have made her stand about not reporting on Paris as the NUMBER ONE story by reporting on Paris? I don't think it's unprofessional at all. She was reacting to the fact that over everything else that day on what is SUPPOSED to be a professional news station a story on Paris Hilton got the lead. If you ask me, making Paris a number one story is what is unprofessional, not her reaction to it (lighter and all).

3 minutes of newstime was spent with her crumpling, trying to torch, shredding the story.

My question is also, where was she on this issue during the pre-show meetings? Also, anchors/producers talk about shit up until newstime, why wasn't this striken prior to the show if it was such a hot button.

As said earlier, I dislike Paris as the next person, but in terms of America, she's newsworthy, just for the fact that probably more viewers know more about her than immigration laws in senate or N. Korea missiles. Sad but true.

yeah, but do more people know about paris than more-newsworthy items because "too much" coverage is given to paris (and the like) ? (kind of cause&effect here.) ((good tune))

good point.

The answer would be absolutely, that is certainly part of the deal.

Flying Rabbit, I really don't understand what point you're trying to make.

It doesn't matter if this was a spontaneous protest or a rehearsed bit of theatre - Hilton shouldn't be the top news story, and someone somewhere apparently feels that she should. Whether that someone is a faceless corporation or the american people (or a self-perpetuating melding of the two) is entirely moot.

It seems pretty obvious that the news agencies are all fairly embarrassed by this story dominating their headlines. It absolutely undermines what little credibility they have left. They know they have to report it, so they report it by announcing first that they don't want to report it. That might be a deflective tactic, but it's at least evidence that the agencies wish they were strictly serious news.

I don't see why that bugs you so much.
