No problema. I just checked out you guys' myspace page and the music sounded loud as shit on there. Could be just the download I got or how my Itunes is set. Fuck if I know.

I don't know - Phil said that he masters at a mid-range volume, but i don't know shit about that - taking the disc to get pressed tomorrow, bought a road case for Jesse's Moog today, paid our artist and talked about merch . . . this is busy shit. We still need to book a show in Chicago for Thursday, July 5th, and I'm starting to stress over that. Any chicagoans that can help set this up?

You're the bachelor tragedy. Or comedy. I haven't decided yet.

I listened to the EP again today....the first 3 songs are excellent. I'm not feeling the last 2 songs. America is my fave.

I've only listened to it once. I thought the last two songs were pretty excellent, and the first three were a little too innocuously bouncey for my personal taste - I would've liked something in there that messed with the sound a little (ie: a dirty fuzz guitar, or the clang of an anvil, or something) - but I can see how fans of Jellyfish etal. would go for it. Nice job.

Now, when is the double bass monster jam happening?

After 3 spins...

1 Model Citizen
I can see the comparison to Jellyfish with this one (actually the first 3). The tempo changes serve the song well. The vox that come in on that quiet break in the song around 2:02 seem a little off key at times, but not annoyingly so.

2 Ditty in C Sharp
The shortest and catchiest one of the bunch. Everything seems a bit over-amplified between 0:45-1:24. Don't know if that was intentional or not.

3 America
This comes off as the best produced track. The keys really stand out on this one for me.

4 Wreck Your Car
I like this one the most. It's a little more tempered than the previous 3, but it's the best representation in regard to the diversity of your sound. What did you do to your keys at the end of the song?

5 Politics
Kinda lounge-y. The best one, lyrically. I like that final key change at 3:24.

1. yep, the vocals are flat, but we don't autotune here at Big Stink. And we had a really short time frame to do a 5 song in.

2. The hardest one to mix, i wouldn't mind retracking the whole thing, but that wasn't an option

3. Came together easily in mixdown, who knows why.

4. Probably my favorite too, he used the ribbon touch pad on his motif to screw with the pitches. Pretty cool shit, eh? Colin is also bending the hell out of his bass strings in time. That staticy sound in the transition between fast and slow parts is colin's bass.

5. Second favorite, also came together easily in mixdown.

dig it, good to know. Camps seem to be divided into preferring 1-3 or 4-5.

thanks, for the input. They actually have like fuzz bass and stuff going on, but the room we're tracking in is small, and some of that stuff just made the mix sound so dirty as to be unuseable.

And they didn't want to use my anvil. Bastards. We did however, use my triangle.

As far as the double bass monster jam, colin is too busy being a rock star to write, so i'm going to just have to string a couple of looping pedals together and do it my own damn self.

Model Citizen: liked it OK, should've ended with the spacey outro
Ditty in C Sharp: not really feeling this one
America: probably my favorite
Wreck Your Car: good, but I like didn't like this spacey outro as well
Politics: like this one a lot too

I'd like to catch their show next week, but that's a school night so I'll probably flake out

I like it, I would buy one.

I think I'm in agreement with most that the 4th song is my favorite. I think the sound is good (to my novice ears). I'll admit, the music is not what I would necessarily say is a "favorite" sound of mine (people mentioned Jellyfish-channeling), but I can tell you guys are talented and passionate, which counts for a lot.

I finally got around to listening to this yesterday, and my initial impression is that it's really good. I like track 5 the best (by far, so far anyway).
