All the free tix stuff would be nice, but I'm just happy that we all get to go take in a game together.

I also contacted a company (who happens to be locally based) that makes and markets allergen-free foods to let them know that they should look into sponsoring this (and any other) peanut-free promotion. And maybe even look into selling their snacks there on this evening (contracts allowing).

Would be great PR for both organizations.

Damn, I should at least get a job offer out of this, eh? ;)

Can't wait until July 9th.

Tickets arrived in the mail yesterday. The look on Ethan's face as he held and looked at the tickets was amazing. It's what being a dad is all about; moments like that.

I was at Comerica Park in Detroit over the weekend and noticed peanut dust all over the seats. I said, "Todd's kids would die here." So don't ever take your kids to Comerica Park.

I share in your joy on this one, Todd. Well done, Dad!

I don't see the difference between a kid who wants a new dungeon master guidebook and one who is a Cubs fan. :P

Uh, Todd? Did you read in the Lake Forest newspaper about how they've found peanut residue in the water supply?

Boy, I would expect to find that in Macon, GA but not here!
Whew! It's a good thing we don't live in Lake Forest and that I just work here.
:D

her. but, thanks. and, honestly i don't think that they're trying to make a big deal out of this thing, which is their fucking loss if they want to be nearsighted penny pinchers.

This is tonight.
Should be fun.

Of course, a rainout would make this whole thing pointless, as we couldn't use a raincheck on a "regular" night. Hoping for the rain to hold off...

i went yesterday. they plugged this peanut-free night a few times.

they were supposed to have skydivers yesterday, but they never showed up. i was pretty upset. but i did get to drive a lawnmower in the outfield during the second inning. that was pretty surreal.

Aww, that's a sweet story Todd. Ultra dad points. You can get away with being a mean drunk for like a year off this.

Rained out.
But they did reschedule the Peanut-Free thing for Aug. 7 and we cashed in our rainchecks for the exact same seats (well, almost - just one row back).

And judging by the people I talked to during the delay last night, a LOT of people came because of the peanut-free thing. I feel good about that.

So, I should be receiving a call from the Chicago Tribune today to talk a bit about the event (the rainout date is tomorrow).
And the company that is sponsoring the event created a press release:
http://eon.businesswire.com/releases/en ... 544057.htm

Kinda nice. Hopefully the attendance will rock the house and more stuff like this will happen for my little guy (and others like him).

He's already a Cougars fan now.

The rain did blow over.
Although big brother Cary was sick and had to stay at home with mom, I took Ethan and we had a blast!
Hot dogs, candy, ice cream, and baseball souveniers and all that.
There were even fireworks after the game.

A reporter from the Chicago Tribune came over during the game and talked to us about the whole thing. Good times and it appeared to be a success. There was also a piece on the local CBS affilliate last night about the game. I missed the piece (I was on my way home from the game when it aired), but the GM stated that they're going to do a peanut-free day every year. Cool.

So yeah. Nobody may read this, but for those of you who are interested. It was a damn good night -- well-needed after a rough day.

Lots of, "I love you, Dad."
It's all you can ask for.

Minor League baseball can be very accommodating I've found out over the years.
