Story

I didn't even realize that he didn't do Sportscenter anymore (I watch ESPNEWS for that kind of thing); I have really enjoyed the hour on his radio show with Olberman though.

So what next? The Price Is Right? CBS Evening News? Rosie's chair on Teh View? QVC?

As long as Colin Cowherd stays, I'm OK with this.

I don't know if he'd be eligible to do Price is Right or CBS Evening News, at least not for x years, since I'm guessing his ABC contract has a no-compete that keeps him from another over-the-air net.

edit: That being said, if NBC could bring Patrick in to host the late late hour, once Conan moves into Tonight, & presumably Carson Daly moves into Late Nite, that would be cool.

Yeah, the Sportscenter of my childhood will now have no to ties to the current incarnation.

I hope to god he doesn't try some talk show or the Price is Right. He's been doing this so long at such a high level I can see him taking a long break for a year or so and then coming back as more of a Rick Reilly type. Maybe doing some sports column, doing something for HBO, or maybe becoming a Peter Gammons type who only covers one sport.

Then again, all that requires that you stay very involved in sports television. Hell he could just go buy a ranch and live the quiet life. I wouldn't blame him.

When he was on Sportscenter, he had the best home-run line in the biz.

"The delivery to Guererro."
*crack*
"Gone."

Lamest shit they've done in a while and I only know about it from espn.com.

I'm trying to think of what I watch on there other than PTI, the Sports Reporters, or the games themselves and I can't think of anything else.

Karl Ravech and Peter Gammons are the only things keeping Baseball Tonight on life support. NFL Countdown with Berman? Shoot me.

I listen to PTI on the radio from time to time.

Wow, Cowherd has fans? That's hysterical.

Then again, I like Mike Felger's show here on the espn affiliate, so I'm hardly one to talk.

Yeah...the only ESPN brand products I use are :

1. PTI ( I listen to the podcast @ work )
2. Dan Patrick radio show ( & then, only the "Big Show" hour )
3. The far end of the ESPNews ticker to catch any breaking news a couple times a day
4. Baseball games on occasion

It's ridiculous that as a sports fan, I find them to be completely worthless otherwise.

Besides PTI, which I rarely get to watch, I watch bits and pieces of Mike and Mike in the morning everyday. It is technically on ESPN2, but I lump them all together.

I'd be remiss if I didn't come clean to the fact that if I'm sitting around the house on a fall Saturday there's no way I'm not watching College Gameday.

They do College Football right. Usually a 12:30 game, 3:30 game, 7:30 game, and then a late west coast game, most of the time on both ESPN and ESPN2.

That show has been on the way down for years. Too much superfluous crap. It is just a huge promotional tool for whatever Big Televen game they are broadcasting that night on ABC. Not that you can blame them.

If the show is about football why are they going to that god awful VaTech - East Carolina game to start the season? It is the old Olympic Games technique (NBC - Nothing Beats Crying).

Yeah, that's just plain bad radio.

I'll give Cowherd this--he's better than those two stooges and 1000x better than John Sieble or whatever the afternoon guy's name is. Holy fucking horrible.

Also, only Atlanta people will appreciate this, but I hear that John Kincade may be Dan's replacement on his radio show.

ESPN has turned into the E! Channel. It's the same kids who never outgrew highschool, just gossiping about a different clique than the folks at E!. But the tactics & sensationalism are mirror images. They try to define sports too much, instead of just reporting on it. They basically turned baseball into the Red Sox vs Yankees. The NFL is Peyton Manning & the guys who can't stay out of jail. It feels like high school all over again.

I watch ESPNews & that's about it. I like the magazine, it's my favorite thing to grab at the barber & I like the online hockey columnists, especially Buccigross. Of course I watch football & the football related shows in Fall, but no way I want to hear Salsbury talk about TO in April like he did all offseason '06.

JESUS. Look who decided to chime in. OL GAR HIMSELF.

I completely agree with you on it just being a promo tool but you WILL be watching it so you can hate Corso for picking against the Dawgs again.

Also, what the hell else are you going to watch? Reruns of Sports Night on CSS?

Don't knock the human interest pieces. I fully expect a Mark Richt Missionary to Honduras piece this fall at some point.
