I'm in DC until friday morning. I'm trying to find a way to get tickets to the sold out Wolf Parade Show tomorrow night.

Any Ob's nearby?

Dan's Cafe. Complete shithole bar in Adam's Morgan.

$10 gets you a full glass of straight liquor, bowl of ice, can of mixer, and another glass to make your drink in. Makes about 3 STIFF drinks or 4 regular ones.

Best deal in DC if you can take the smell.

As for tourism, just go hit the DC Mall and check out the monuments and memorials. Makes for a nice day and you can decide there if you want to hit a museum or two.

The Bodies Exhibit
Baltimore Aquarium
International Spy Museum
Air and Space

...are my favourite recommendations for out-of-towners.

Pick up a City Paper for alternate recommendations.

I almost recommended that. Insanely powerful stuff but give yourself a whole afternoon to check it out. I felt compelled to read every bit of material in there.

Also, give yourself time to decompress afterwards because it's some heavy stuff.

I like the National Portrait Gallery & Museum of American Art, both in the same building, across from the Spy Museum at the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro Stop.

Zed's Ethiopian on M Street NW right as you go into Georgetown had the hottest waitstaff I had ever seen when I was there a few years ago.

Zaytinya is a Turkish/Mediterranean eat joint right around the corner from the Portrait Gallery if you're into mezzes. It's good stuff, and looks way more frou frou than it really is. I ate there in jeans after shooting pix all day.

If you are headed down towards The Mall, the Sackler & Freer Galleries are sorta behind the red Smithsonian Castle, right by the Smithsonian Metro stop. I like those too. The Hirshorn was all gobbed up with renovations a few months back, and the Museum of American History is totally closed for a while.

(makes a mental note to walk across the bridge for lunch or dinner one of these nights)

Too bad yr not in town at the beginning of next month, otherwise I could've brought you along to some shows during the Sonic Circuit Festival in DC.
