The only one I would buy would be the Fiery Furnaces... and I already own that. So it looks like it might be a horrid next few months...

Pause & Play really sucks. Pause & Play lists about 100 new releases for next week compared to 7 pages in small print at AMG's new release calendar. Of course, AMG's navigation sucks but their list is so much more comprehensive.

Only things I'm really looking forward to right now are new Manu Chao on Sept 4 and new Joe Henry later in Sept.

I'll be picking up in order of desire:

1. Cult
2. Collective Soul
3. Foo Fighters
4. Weakerthans

I'd say it's a pretty good few months for me since some of my favorite bands are releasing stuff.

I'll probably pick up the Matt Pond Pa. I'm curious about the Hives only because that new song of theirs is kinda catchy. But the last one wasn't very good at all.

I'm pretty sure its referring to the soundtrack he's doing about the Iraq vet.

Fiery Furnaces is the only from that list that has a realistic shot of being bought.

I think the Eddie Vedder album is the only one I'd be interested in. I guess The Donnas and Steve Earle are worth checking out too.

They've been pretty prolific of late -- like an album a year for several years now. I think.

I think Al said this is gonna be the last Ministry album.

Quote:
Jourgensen has expressed on multiple occasions an intent to disassemble the project after concluding the current "MasturbaTour", and at least one final "SeeYouLaTour". Ministry's "final"[1] album, The Last Sucker, will be released on September 18th 2007. In July 2007, the band released Rio Grande Dub, an album featuring remixes from the band's 2006 Rio Grande Blood album. The band's next U.S. tour in support of The Last Sucker, is tentatively scheduled to start in March 2008 and will run until May 2008.

Collective Soul - hmmm....no

VHS or Beta - I tried to like these guys.

Super Furry Animals - Maybe. They have always been semi-hit or miss with me.

Hot Hot Heat - I've kind of dismissed them in my mind as disposable post-punk revivalists. But I can't actually think of when I heard a song by them all the way through.

Pinback - I liked a song by them that Timis put on a mix, so they have been sitting on my "to-check-out" list for a while.

Ministry - I've liked some industrial in my time. Never quite warmed up to Ministry like I did NIN or Skinny Puppy.

Eddie Vedder - I like Pearl Jam a lot, so maybe. It can't suck as bad as Chris Cornell.

The Donnas - They were always borderline-gimmicky to me. But I haven't heard much of what they've done.

Foo Fighters - They're OK. I usually like 2 or 3 songs per album.

Steve Earle - I only have a "best of" collection. Not quite as loyal to him as some people here, but I like him.

Iron and Wine - He's OK. Not a huge fan.

Matt Pond PA - Don't know him/them.

Scott Walker - A vet that I am not all too familiar with. Any recs where to start?

The Weakerthans - Always saw this name tossed around a lot. Never bothered to check them out.

Sea Wolf - Who?

The Cult - I'm long past caring about these guys.

Ian Brown - I don't mind The Stone Roses album. Aside from that, not that interested in much else.

Siouxsie - Really? A new Siouxsie? Wouldn't mind hearing it I guess.

The Hives - This, I am interested in hearing.

The Redwalls - Don't know much about them.

Rockfour - See The Redwalls

Fiery Furnaces - Heard about 'em a lot a few years back. Never got around to checking them out despite much probing by a friend of mine.

Jimmy Eat World - Never liked them much, but they are one of the few bright spots in that whole pop/punk/emo genre.

I absolutely fell in love with The Drift and Tilt the first time I heard them.

See if you can hear them first -- not the sort of thing that's for everyone. Experimental. But brutally good if you are.

Knowing your taste, I think you'd really like them.
