What gets me about this is that the starting pitchers gave up 6 runs in the first five innings. Certainly not good, but just not absolutely horrendous. .2 IP for 8 runs is a bit of a nut-kicker.

Some stats I overheard:

1. Before the game the Orioles were 7th in the league for pitching. After the game they were 11th.

2. The 7th, 8th, and 9th batters for TX had 16 combined RBIs.

Perhaps the most amazing stat about this game is that the Rangers scored all 30 runs within the confines of four innings. There were FIVE innings they went SCORELESS. They didn't even score their first run until the FIFTH INNING.

Crazy!

does it burn you that it only counts as 1 win and this is the obvious highlight of the season for a team mired in last place?

Not as much as it burns me that this is only 1 win and it's the obvious highlight of the franchise's entire 38-year history.

bingo. That was the conversation at work today. If it would've been the Yankees or Red Sox it wouldn't have hurt us so much--they seem like teams that could accomplish feats like that, but the Rangers? God, it would've only been worse if it was the Royals.

I don't know if it is worse, at least KC has won a World Series in the last 30yrs. The Rangers have yet to accomplish that feat.
