Uncle Tupelo: March 16-20, 1992

Odd....I think for most people Uncle Tupelo is defined by their more rockin' records. But, for me, this is what I think of; reminds me of the little lunch shows they'd play for free around town when I was living in Belleville. (And, no its not as rural as their back-story likes to make out...it's the white-flight adjoining town all the honkies moved to when black folks moved into East St. Louis.) Whatever... some great covers of traditional stuff like Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down along with fantastic originals like Black Eye. Modern acoustic Americana with a big, heavy heart. Of the whole Tupelo/Wilco/Son Volt catalog, this is the one that's connected with me the most.
