Jas, you might have to wait until my Cramps-B-Gone Chicago store opens. Unless you're interested in franchising, of course.

I just popped four Motrin and I feel like nothing can get me down.

Motrin > Cotton, I guess.

I'm flipping through an office supplies catalog right now and I really want a platform for my monitor but I feel bad asking for one.

I've done hot stone massage before... it's nice, but I'd rather just get a massage for a full hour instead of having hot rocks on my body for half an hour and then getting half hour half-assed massage. Which reminds me... I'm in desperate need of a massage myself.

- learned all sorts of new things this weekend re: home kits for highlight/color touch-ups. You too can color your hair at home for tons less, AND if you do it with a friend? You can drink at the same time! So what do you think... should I stick with highlights or go with a softer brown for the fall/winter? Dark brown is too stark for me. I think I'm too old for red these days.

- Debbie Harry is 62 years old. Read that in Elle magazine this weekend. 62!

- I'm ready for Project Runway 4.

- I get tired of Oregon moms who feel the need to breast feed wherever, whenever. Seriously saw a mom this past weekend at the coast, walking from the beach with her shirt hiked up over her boob while the baby TRIED to breast feed (hello? don't you need to be still for that sort of thing?).

Wow Dana, I feel like I have a response to each of your comments. haha

-I was once on WGN's morning news show half naked. They were doing a piece on the spa I worked at and they had little spots on the air of me getting a Hot Stone Massage. It was pretty damn funny. And embarrassing.

-I'm tired of being red. I'm actually also tired of coloring my own hair, I look like a tri-colored shaggy dog. I'm getting it proffessionally done next week, going try and get back to a natural shade and just throw some blonde. I'm thinking of a light brownish color with really blonde streaks placed strategically. Like young Debbie Harry but backwards.

-Love her. Love that Elle, it's taking me a week to read it.

-Christ, I breastfed exclusively for 8 mos and would still go in another room to do so if company came over for crying out loud. Now I get women protesting the fact that people make them doing it in bathrooms and because of them getting thrown of planes. But HAVE SOME COMMON SENSE about it!! I was in a grocery store and a woman just hiked up her shirt in the cafe, whipped the boob out and fed her kid. HELLO???

Yeah, that's just silly. Some of these women take it too far.

gah. I was at the park and it started to rain. My daughter giggled like mad as the rain fell on her on the way home. Glad she found it funny.

I don't mind if women do it, I just think one can cover up a bit or do it discreetly. Not the "I'm going to take my boob out, let it hang a sec and then stuff it in my kid's mouth-right here in this restaurant/store/etc". There are just some women who make it harder for the rest of us to have those rights.

I have absolutely no problem with women breastfeeding babies. While in Buenos Aires, I was in a nice restaurant having dinner and a woman started breastfeeding her baby -- I thought it was rather liberating vs watching a woman feel paranoid about feeding her child naturally.

Yeah, kids gotta eat, moms gotta have lives, I'm in the do what you gotta do camp. It's not like breastmilk is some sort of icky waste product.

Plus I am all in favor of most things that make the kids in public less shouty and cranky.

Exactly... That's why I'm waiting with bated breath for the launch of breast-milk cheese (as predicted in the "pick a cheese" thread).

Yeah, women really need to hide them things when they breast feed. God forbid anyone get a look at a breast performing a natural, healthy function rather than pushed together and pulled up to dramatic effect so we can continue to objectify them as an integral part of our sexual fantasies.

There is a huge uproar out there right now, and you would be SHOCKED to find out how many mothers out there themselves find breastfeeding disgusting. There was a Baby magazine that just last year put an infant on the cover breastfeeding and the magazine recieved hundreds of thousands of letters regarding it, and half of them were MOTHERS talking about how gross it was and inappropriate. It's just crazy.

There's a very strong group out there who are trying to enforce laws state by state to see that this doesn't happen. Women are thrown out of public pools, planes, restaurants, stores all the time over this.

BUT, there are also many women who push the envelope. Keeping in mind the fact that there are more people against women breastfeeding in public areas then not, discretion is key. And even those who are discreetly breastfeedin(blanket, under shirt, sling etc) are vilified because there are those who literally let the boob hang out in these places.

That is why the laws are getting harder to enforce public banning. I STILL breastfeed though only a couple times a day. I have always tried however to be sensitive to the fact that it does make some people uncomfortable, which isn't going to change, and make sure I'm not just airing it all out for everyone to see.

Whether it is mothers or non-mothers being offended is not the point. And, no, I'm actually not shocked that many find breast-feeding disgusting. The point is it is offensive only because we have a weird socialized way of looking at the female body where we find it perfectly acceptable and even encouraged for women to show off their breasts in all variety of ways to titillate. Yet, let a breast be seen in a perfectly natural, non-sexual way and people get freaked out. And, just because there is a current law against it, ain't gonna convince me that it is wrong. And, no, I am not afraid that if a child sees a bare breast feeding a baby that they will somehow be scarred for life. Walk around any town, turn on any TV, read any newspaper and kids see far more damaging things on a regular basis.

Then again, I am childless, thus my opinion on these matters is worth about as much as used toilet paper to most people anyway.

Thanks. I think I was more a lightish brownish blonde on there. It just always photographed dark. I was a blonde as a kid.

I have my appt next week, I have no real clue what I'm doing yet. But it's become my mission this week to come up with something.

I'm not really AGAINST breast feeding, but there is a way to do it discreetly. And with the woman I saw, jostling her kid around as she stomped her way back to the car, with her t-shirt pulled up over her breast while the kid couldn't even get his mouth on her nipple... really? what's the point? Sit the fuck down at the picnic table and breast feed your kid like a normal person.

I am developing a strong fear of old people behind the wheel. They are proving to be worse drivers than cabbies. Almost without fail this last week or two, when I see a car pull some crazy shit in traffic, I get alongside them and the driver looks like the Crypt Keeper.

ridiculous

and I am stanchly pro-breastfeeding

especially when I am the lucky recipient
