I, catswilleatyou, don't think the differences between ska, reggae, rocksteady, etc.. are large or important enough to validate them as separate genres.

I feel that Jamaica is just being greedy (and their bobsled seems sucks too)

I will only be needing Interpol as leverage.
Interpol has songs at different paces, but all can coexist within the same recognizable genre. This genre is commonly referred to as "Kevin Spacey Singing Indie Rock"

I propose that we lump all that island beat stuff into one genre and completely get rid of all the unnecessary categorizations. I also propose that we call this genre, "Bro-Jam"

if you're refusing do differentiate those, you're gonna have to do the same with Metal. and Rock. and Rap.

and then when you tell people what kind of music you listen to, they'll say

"hey
I like
38 Special
too!"
