I'm thinking on-offs in the studio that never panned out, collaborations that fell apart without giving us an album, scenarios that could have happened but never did (Would Revolver have been Revolver if it was recorded at Stax?)

I'm thinking if Rick James and Neil Young had stuck together, there would eventually have been some weird-ass masterpiece Myna Birds album round about 1978 or so.

Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix's proposed collaboration comes to mind.

Atilla the Negro...supposed punk rock group that could never save up enough money to actually buy some instruments and give 'em a shot after they blew it all on beer. But, the flyers were very promising.

I would love to see Shania Twain make a dark album. She said in an interview once that she writes dark songs to get it out of her system, but then never records them or releases them.

Brian Eno, My Squelchy Life (although there are a couple tracks from it on Box I: Instrumentals and Box II: Vocals [verbatim], and reworked versions on Nerve Net).

John Lennon's album about the divorce from Yoko and facing his own mortality and his spiritually torrid deconstruction of the vapidity of globalized postmodern neoliberal capitalist consumer society,,, 1998

well i don't know if it would have been the best album never made, because the one track that was released wasn't that great, but the Robert Schneider (Apples in Stereo) and Andy Partridge (XTC) collab that never fully materialized could have been amazing.

(shrugs) I don't know. I doubt it. More likely FHM or something else that I actually read.

The Kurt Cobain glitch-pop, techno, electro album, that he would have been sure to have made in '94 or '95, after breaking up Nirvana, getting clean, & moving to Sweden.
