I have'nt seen this movie forever and just got it today from Blockbuster online. If you've never seen it, get the special edition. It has scenes that were cut out of the original that should have never been cut to begin with.

I remember when this film came out. I never wanted to see it due to poor advertising. The trailer made it out to be some insipid teenage slasher film that had been done over and over again.

A few years later, I read a really interesting review on it which grabbed my attention but I still was no in the mood to watch it. Entertainment weekly had a special article regarding cult films. Donnie Darko was very high on the list and finally got me in the mood to see what all the hyp is about. The movie turned out to be a very underrated film.

I'm still not a huge fan of Jake J. though

I think they took out Echo and the Bunnymen and replaced them with INXS. For that reason alone, the director's cut gets a thumbs down from this guy.

Check it out sometime and tell me what you think.
The day after I saw it, I called my buddy up and told him to check it out.
He gave me the same response that I already thought about when I first saw the trailer. I conviced him to rent it. He did and now ownes it.

I hope i'm not overhyping this film....i just really like it .

Another film that is pretty underrated but funny as shit is Wet Hot American Summer. It's basicly a parody of teenage camp movies (such as Meatballs...welll..ok, Meatballs but that is good enough). It's packed full of big laugh out loud scenes. Some of the actors are from the State/Reno 911 as well as Jenine Gerafalo (however u spell her name), one of the guys from the Law in Order (have no idea who), Molly Shannon, Michael Ian Black (which has a somewhat akward scene, funny...but very awkdard) and others. Check it out!

Yeah, you're right.
I think it was some legal bullshit but I guess was resloved.
I still think the INXS song works well with the scene.

The INXS song was originally in it but was swapped out for 'Killing Moon' last minute, the directors cut puts the INXS song back in (we are talking about the bike ride scene right?)

I love this movie though, and if you haven't already, then see it. However I advise you to watch the un-directors cut version first because i've heard the directors cut makes the story a little obvious whereas before it was more open to interpretation.

The directors cut totally changes the overall tone of the movie, much darker and creepier.

Also, Kevin Smith is on the commentary with director Richard kelly

this movie is just cool, i now have both editions on dvd

Don't forget the party scene with Joy Division's "Love will Tear us Apart".

The rabbit was terribly scary, I agree.

Excellent film, for sure. Only disappointment (I thought) on the extended version was the commentary... Jake's kinda flaky, just cuts jokes, sounds like a moderately hyper teenager, doesn't take anything very seriously (maybe for good reason, now that I ponder it).

The rabbit's creepy, yes. Good creepy, though.. effective.

The movie is overrated, especially by my fellow teenagers. It's annoying.

But I own the original DVD and still think it's a very good movie.
