Don't get me wrong. I'm certainly not defending wrestling (or watching it's current incarnation) but I have no problem with some nostalgia over Flair and his ilk. Especially that early 80's era of TBS broadcasts. No coincidence that that was when I was around 7, 8, or 9 and I actually watched it for a brief period.

Rasslin' is a soap opera for men.

I don't get all weepy over this either, but I can understand the significance of this retirement. Flair was huge when the majority of us were in grammar school... when wrestling was the shit.

It's stupid, mindless fun that most of us took part in at least once.

Is it really so much different then my mom crying at the end of MASH's final episode, or during the last episode of Seinfeld, or whatever happens to float your boat???

I'd go one further and ask if it is anymore wrong than say, Favre's retirement, or Gretzky's or Nolan Ryan's, etc...

So fake wrestling is comparable to baseball, football or hockey as a legit sport? Puh-lease.

I honestly don't see much difference as far as getting all upset about some "legit" sports guy retiring as opposed to a wrestler. Wrestling or baseball or whatever, even sports I like. It's all just a bunch of grown men dressing up in silly costumes to entertain us.

But, saying wrestling did anything tastefully stretches the boundries of my imagination.

No, but it's the same emotions -- the heroes of your youth are being sent out to pasture.

Probably about the same as you felt when your favorite gay porn actor retired from taking it in the can on film for your enjoyment.

Are you kidding? Retarded men can't follow these story lines. I mean, who really is Hornswoggle's daddy?

And how did I know that you'd throw your condescending .02 into this?

A "beyond obsessed with wrestling" friend of mine in junior high dragged me to this movie when it was out. Save for maybe The Avengers or Batman And Robin, it's pretty much the worst movie I've ever seen...

It's pretty much a given that Pro Wrestlers make bad films, but so do most Pro Athletes from legitimate sports. I'd probably watch Suburban Commando or They Live before I watch a Shaq movie.

Also I don't believe any of us are on par with the "It's still real to me" dude that one of the Georgia Delegation posted on here.

I'd agree in cases where the athlete has the lead role, which excludes films like Blue Chips and Predator.

The funniest (and well, saddest) thing about this thread is that people who have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours of their lives maintaining their music collections could feel superior to people who watch(ed) wrestling or vice versa.

The context is irrelevant. We all know that Rads is superior.
