I won't be downloading this one, since I own it.
I love it.
It has some great beats, while also reminding me of the music from elementary school science films that were made sometime in the early 70's.
While it is borderline creepy at some points, I agree it is hauntingly gorgeous and a nice album to chill with at night.

No question about that.

Is it really that great, though? A handful of tracks on it are, but it's a pretty long album. Some of it is pretty dull.

I've tried with this album after reading much about it's greatness and after recommendations from several people here and I finally came to the conclusion that it's just not my bag.

Wholly original at both the time of it's release and now. Haunting is the word I would use to describe this. 9.8/10.0. Only thing I would change is the "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE YOU!!!!!!!" track.

think of dalen what you will

but when he thinks an album is really quality (like to start one of these threads about) he's usually right

I even tried with this album, but there's just no there there. No groove, no flow, a bunch of annoying samples, and it just adds up to  to me.

Pot music. I've professed my love for BoC since the CMJ days. Would definitely be in my Listmania had I not had a life and actually compiled one.

How is it that I have an affinity for so many albums deemed to be Pot music or stoner albums, yet have not smoked pot for almost a decade?

Why are you asking me?

Environment/personality? I would say it was past hallucinogen use, but GAR and Bloor disprove that theory as they'd rather listen to Waylon Jennings than Pink Floyd (general example).

That's what I was expected, but not what I was rewarded with. Something missing.

It was a general question I threw out there, I just used your quote.
It must be personality, because Nebraska doesn't seem really conducive to it and I count on one hand the number of times I used any substance known as a hallucinogen.
